Thank you so much for all of your support!!!:D
sorry i haven't been around much but, well, since making my new shiny plan it has been a period of trauma...
it has been a mixture of good stuff and bad unfortunately....bad stuff is that fil is now in final stages of terminal cancer and is unlikely to make it to christmas....dh is spending most weekends travelling to visit him and it is costing a fortune but is obviously a lot more important than anything else at the moment...because of this we have not managed to do any of the things that we intended so i think that we shall just wait until this year is over before we make a concerted effort.....
the good news is......wait for it.......i have finally made my first official op!!!:j :j :j i am soooooooo happy that i have managed to finally get the ball rolling...it has been a long time coming....also found out when on the phone that they will be changing the interest rate from 31st dec so that's even more good news:T my isa isn't quite as healthy now as i had to take out op money i had been putting in there but....today i managed to add an additional £471 to the £300 i had from october.....so, £771 for my first one...decembers will be extremely light but from jan hopefully it will be a lot more impressive or i won't be able to reach my target!!
i have applied for a second job, had no response yet as it was a speculative application, but hoping to hear something soon....i need to get onto some job sites and get some more applications done:o need to make money....!!!
hope you are all well.....0 -
Sorry to hear about your FIL. Things like that make you sit up and think don't they. Spending time with him while you can is far more important.
Congratulations on your 1st official OP :T :T I still haven't done one...Looks like I wont for the best part of a year either... My ISA (bulking up my emergency savings a bit more) and flat renovation fund are stealing all my spare cash. I will make an OP before the end of the MFiT challenge ends...

Well done Frazz good going in such a difficult time for your family.
Good luck with getting a second job but make sure you look after yourself at the same time.

I agree with others frazz, family are much more important. Still, well done on OP :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

One of the things we all try to do here is plan, but, there are many aspects in life which hit us and impact upon that planning. That said, through planning we are well placed to weather the storm, but, above all else family and personal issues can and do impact above all our financial planning. Obviously your dh needs the time with fil, and you quite rightly highlight the costs simply have to be covered - however, you have your plans, the timeline may have shifted slightly, but that is a minor consideration overall. As you say, defer to January the ongoing OP and progress from there, but take time for you and your dh at this period of personal pressure.
Take care.0 -
Hey Frazz, sorry to hear your sad news - it's such a tough time, but with all the family pulling together yourself & DH will get through, and I'm certain that knowing his family have their finances solidly under control will give no end of peace of mind to your FIL too. I do so hope that the next few weeks are as calm and dignified as they can possibly be for him.
On a lighter note, your plan sounds ambitious but, as you say, it's possible to make such a major impact on things in your time frame even if you didn;t manage to completely shift it you'll be so well on the final stretch will be a breeze. I do wish you every bit of luck.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
