If the little one is having curry with us, I usually leave the sauce as it is, serve hers up and then add some chili flakes to mine and the other halfs before I serve ours up.

If its just the two of us, I usually crush some garlic, add it to the pan with some onions and a bit of olive oil, add a teaspoon each of garam masala, ground coriander, turmeric, and madras curry powder, I then add the chicken pieces and a bit later some green peppers and/or handful of chopped mushrooms. Add the curry sauce and simmer and at the end I add some chopped fresh coriander and a few slices of fresh tomato (always makes it taste more authentic I think) and serve with rice or naan bread..... arrrrrghhhhh am feeling hungry now LOL

I have Asda's Smartprice, think its 7p at the moment as is Morrisons. I find it a little bit bitter tasting and not very spicy. I use it more as a base and add something to sweeten it (chutney or ketchup), something to spice it up (chilli powder/flakes) and a little cream or yoghurt to make it creamier. Usually add onions, leftover chicken maybe potatoes, maybe peppers (some veg doesn't quite seem to go in a curry so I keep it quite simple as OH is a bit fussy).

Decided to use the Mr S one heated up to use with a chinese takeaway we had ordered (to use with chips and prawn crackers) and really didn't like it!! I think I need to add things as it was a little sweet and too mild for me, will try these three different recipes that ops have posted previously :-

    1. crush some garlic, add it to the pan with some onions and a bit of olive oil, add a teaspoon each of garam masala, ground coriander, turmeric, and madras curry powder, I then add the chicken pieces and a bit later some green peppers and/or handful of chopped mushrooms. Add the curry sauce and simmer and at the end I add some chopped fresh coriander and a few slices of fresh tomato

    2. pinch of cumin, cayenne, turmeric, salt and pepper. simmer 1 hour.

    3. teaspoon of paprika and a teaspoon of tumeric to it and should enhance the flavour

I think I'll definately add some chillies to mine to give it an extra kick.. :D

If anyone has tried anymore recipes recently please do post :p

I've not tried the Tesco one but Asda does a 4p one too and it tastes just like chip shop curry sauce.

I have tried it myself and it is quite sweet but does what it says on the tin :D I made a bean stew with a tin of the sauce, a tin of baked beans and a tin of chickpeas (strted out with frying an onion and garlic, add some herbs , then all else and veg). Yummy, filling and dirt cheap :D

We bought some for the jars - cheaper than buying new jars when making jam. OH wouldn't let me use it though... It smelled quite sweet!
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
  • I have eaten it - it makes for cheap and very easy meal when you can`t be faffed cooking from scratch. I thought it was ok but had a slight aftertaste of washing up liquid. Even saying that I would buy it again, handy to keep a couple of jars or tins in and if I can be bothered I add a few extras to jazz it up a bit - extra spices or coriander, coconut powder, etc
