We were shopping tonight in Mr T's and we saw 4p tin of curry sauce, 4p!!:eek::eek:I couldn't believe it, im sure it would cost more than that for the tin and the label....and to my point, has anyone tried it and is it any good?
Note: I didnt purchase as it has sultana's in it (Fussy hubby) I was really tempted tho
Is this not a very old post rehashed? Reminds me of an old thread. Just asking cos our Mr T still charges 12p for theirs...and if its the one I buy there isnt that many sultanas in it? I add my own along with some coconut when I use it.

You can't say that without posting the recipe

    Sorry :D
I use a bag of value parsnips chopped up (dont even peel just whack off the top and bottom and slice), one tin of the curry sauce and approx 250ml of stock (usually veg but whatever really) and chuck in the slow cooker!! You can, of course, add anything else u like but I usually just do this then add a little cream and blitz.

Our Mr T sells it at 4p - yes needs extra sultabas needed but very nice. And the kids eat it:)

I like it. I have a couple of tins in the cupboard on standby which is nice poured over rice and chips :)

  • I liked the one from asda but not tescos, which suprised me because I thought they'd be exactly the same thing

I used half a tin in split pea soup and used the other half to make vegetable curry, but both I had to add some more spices because it was a bit bland

I had the asda curry sauce on homemade wedges which was yummy

I've had Mr S's basics curry sauce, it's nice and we use it with other ingredients to bulk it out, like tinned toms. The price has gone up from 4p to 10p though, shocking!:rotfl:

It's good to have in the cupboard as a standy-by.

Not tried the MrT one but there is a similar one in MrM.

It tastes just like chip shop curry sauce and is in a jar, the first time that i bought it it was 5p and i needed the jars for jam.

Not sure how much it is these days but it did go up to 26p at one point, it varied wildly for quite a spell.

I`ve added other spices to it to make a stronger curry and its ok for a change.

I put the Asda sauce in the sc with some chicken legs and some veg. Also added a bit of madras curry powder and it was gorgeous!

I keep some in the cupboard to use if I'm in a rush and find it fairly edible,my DGS loves it as a dip with his Doritos.By the way I went to tesco's this morning and they were selling white vinegar for 36p for half a litre, excellant for using to clean with or as a softner in the washing machine
