OS Daily Thread - Saturday 27th September

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for 27th September. It is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning girls!

Up at the crack of sparrows cough again. Treacle the mad cat is being a pain next to me, trying to bite and lick my hand as I type and leaning on keys which means I have to keep backspacing to correct her typos! She was yowling at me 5 mins ago, demanding to be fed as I was up and around. I am almost certain sure she swore at me!

jo132000 - An MRI is scary but you are quite safe, please don't worry
Sybil - Well done you!! That is fantastic, I know what a big thing that is for you. I hope you are very proud of yourself
Welcome back C1aire! Good to have you with us again
Welcome back Anniestar!! we missed you very much!grouphug3.gif

I won't write a long epistle, my head is full of cotton wool, but I will call back later when more awake. I managed to make a birthday card for my OH last night and rang him at midnight and insisted on singing happy birthday to him again when he got in at 0430 just a while ago!

Anyway *hugs* to everyone who needs one and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating today!celebrate.gif

Hello and hugs to all who follow.

Happy birthday Mr Diva - - 21 again?

Up very early again - not like me at all. Usually I sleep until at least double figures and theN party all night long - but for some reason I keep waking up before the sun. Do you think Im sickening for something?

Anyhow, it might not be a bad thing - my hours will soon be changing at work and I will have all 8am starts, hopefully I will still be waking up at the crack of [STRIKE]dawn[/STRIKE] evolution when they begin.

Off for first coffee of the day and a bit of brekkie

    see you later

Good morning everyone and Happy Birthday to Mr Diva!

Smoky - it's lovely to see you posting regularly; I think you are doing so well and being really positive.

Well, with all the scaremongering over power cuts and things I need to check my store of candles and get some more batteries for the radio and torches. I don't know whether to be scared or not but there's no harm in being prepared, I suppose. Having a gas cooker will help - DH even said we could live in the kitchen if we really had to, not that I fancy that very much! I did read on another thread that the Met Office have forecast a mild winter but when did they ever get anything right?!

Anyway, (((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, Candygirl's Dad, Essex-girl's Dad, Beth and her family, Pippa's OH and Mum and Meanmarie and Ulrick - oh, and all those who are suffering with coughs and colds at the moment.

Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello: I haven't read all of the threads this week but I haven't seen any posts from you; hope you are OK?

Aussie - good to hear from you yesterday - it's been VERY quiet on here without you and your sense of humour!

Today, I just need to get some fresh fruit and veg; I am on a freezer challenge this week because I want to run it down and go for a big shop next week with a proper meal plan. We also need to go to the local tip and dispose of some rubbish that's taking up space but, as DH is having the day off on Monday, we might leave it until then - the weather forecast is really good for the weekend and I have a feeling the world and his wife will be visiting the tip! DS1 will be coming round over the weekend to check over the computer since it crashed a week ago. I seem to have everything back that I thought I had lost. I don't understand it but I had lost all the addresses in my email address book and all my favourites but they suddenly came back yesterday! I can only think that it took the computer a week to recognise me!

Dinner tonight will be the fry-up we should have had last night but DH brought fish and chips home with him after work so that was a treat. Then he promptly fell asleep on the sofa and I spent the evening knitting! What an exciting life we lead! Still, at least I know what we'll be doing if there are power cuts! I've just found a headtorch I bought for DH years ago that he's never used - I can use that for reading and knitting if there's no power. I'm going to buy another one so we both have one! It'll be a laugh, if nothing else.

Anyway, I'm doing my usual mioliering so I will go and have a shower.

See you all later. Have a great day!

    Morning all,

Just about to put the jug on for our arv cuppa and thought I'd write in the daily now. Went to the dr's today and my thyroid is now working well. :D I'll celebrate with a few wines tonight. ;) Got another dose of shingles too just to cap it off. Not as bad this time & I"ve caught it early. I haven't done a great deal today. I was laying on the bed watching a Sarah Brightman concert. How OS is that? :D

DH has just said that he can see OS & DGS walking down so my quiet afternoon has now come to a grinding halt. Best get going. Will pop back later. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning folks.

I took the weekend off, so no rushing about this morning. Lazy coffee, newspaper and shopping I think. I see ASDA has some good prices this week, so I shall head for there after taking daughter to work. She works at Eden and was supposed to work Oasis tonight, but they cancelled, so no concert, just gardens today.

Called aol this week to see if I could get any deals on my package. They offered me 3 months free and upgrade from 1mb to 6mb, so worth a try! No extra charge and I am already on a great deal.

Sky offered me sports or movies for an extra £8 a month for 3 months, so I might use my savings on aol to get some sports as I can watch US footy then.

OH got her first teaching supply work yesterday, so that was a real confidence boost for her.

Well feeling good today. Got freinds over for a meal tonight and a the weather is good and everyone is well.

    Have a good day....:D

  • Morning all,

MSDiva, there's waking up early - and then there's ridiculous, lol!!! I thought my 5.30am body clock was bad enough. Happy Birthday to Mr Diva, hope he enjoys his day later when he's awake again.
Ladygrim, you'll probably find it much less of a struggle to get up & moving when your hours change if you're naturally waking earlier - it's lovely at this time of day!! ;)
Kathy, imagining you & your DH sitting in pitch-darkness except for 2 little lights bobbing about on your heads did make me smile! I agree, no harm in being prepared.... (were you a girl-guide too??)
Aussie, we missed you! Glad you caught the shingles early so hope it isn't too uncomfortable for you.
N9eav, sounds like you are getting some good deals, and well done to your OH too - that's really good news :)
MeanMarie, I am so pleased Ulick is getting really good care - that alone is reassuring. Hope he continues to be well looked-after and make slow but steady progress.
W-Sybil, you are doing really well!!! And as someone (sorry, gone blank!) said, no sillier than any of us..... ;)

Anniestar & Smoky, lovely to hear from both of you :):)

Anyway, already had one cuppa, will go & fetch another shortly I think. This will be a "pottering" day/weekend, I want to do some meal-planning, and to order a month's online shop of the basics/non-perishables/tins etc, so I only need to buy meat/fruit/veg/bread/milk weekly then (no freezer space to stock up :( ). Must do a run-through with the hoover. Also have ir*ning to do of some of my clothes before putting them away in new wardrobes. As a rule I "don't do" ir*ning. Will get some sheets out on the line too I think as weather-wise it looks promising again.

(((((((((hugs))))))))) for all those needing them, and get-well wishes to the poorlies or those awaiting tests/scans/results.

Well lots to do Chez Morwenna today!

DD2 is having one of her friends over for the afternoon & tea today, so need to clean house before she gets here [STRIKE]so that they can mess it up again [/STRIKE] Then I am baking this afternoon, so I think I will do some cupcakes and let the girls loose with the icing and all the cheapy cake decorations (Supercook reductions) I have stashed. HM pizzas for tea so the BM needs to go on at some point.

    \morning everyone:hello:
Sun shining here so the first load of 3 is in the WM.

Have had a busy couple of weeks with college restarting, new students, new (horrendous|!!!) timetable. We also had my in laws over a weekend (remember??I moaned and moaned about it). Well, that was quite hard going but we have had worse. I do wish they weren't so opinionated and rude. We watched the intro to Strictly when they were here and F in L kept going on about Bruce Forsythe (they are the same age) 'Yes.......and you look 81! Your tan has come straight out of a can!' - yes, this was shouted at the telly but we refused to let it spoil our lovely Strictly and kept watching. He retired behind a newspaper but peeked out now and again. I went off to bed early each night.
I've had that rotten cold that's going so ((((hugs)))) to those who have it. I found Boots \lemsip type drink helped, supplemented with toddies in the evening. DH has it now - started sneezing last night. I'm hoping to take the dogs to the beach today so a blast of sea air might help DH.
I was shattered after work last night and was thinking of having a meal out ( we usually go for a Fri after work drink when DH gets home) - but no, OS kicked in when I thought of the cost so we had our drink then went home and made sausage sandwiches biggrin.gif. Not very healthy but just what was needed. I find Fridays the one day I just don't want to cook so that's when we usually have something homemade but frozen and stashed away. Last night didn't even come close to reheating + preparing veg!

Sybil - I read your post last night about your trip. Well done you action-smiley-033.gif

((((hugs)))) to those who are feeling ill or down, and I'm so sorry to hear of illness in so many families

    Have a good weekend all

  • Good Morning All

    Happy Birthday Mr Diva

Had a lie in this morning and when I came into the kitchen I found that OH had stopped at a Bakerys that he passes and there are butter croissants and pain au chocolate for breakfast :j that'll really please DS as he doesnt like normal breakfast things.

DS has footie this morning so shall walk him there with the dogs killing 2 birds with one stone. Loads of washing, loads of ironing and some housework to be done (am still ignoring the loads of paperwork).

Tonight have Strictly, also another village has its carnival - its a torchlight and a very big affair think will go as the weather is meant to be so nice. Not much money though so will definately avoid the fair, think its £2 per ride!

Marinated chicken with cheesy pots for dinner.

    Have a lovely Saturday.
