I pay in bags with less in them than the amount on the bag. It is not even counted at my local Lloyds, they simply weigh it by putting it on a scale and selecting what coin it is. It then tells them how much is in the bag.
Before they had the scale, they just used to count it.0 -

Never had any problem at my bank - I do 2 lots of church banking each week and consequently have to bank 'incomplete' money bags - these bags are weighed just as any other as the scales that they have tell them the value of the actually money in them rather than a complete bag. Another option available of course is the 'auto-deposit' machines, where you access it with your bank card and then enter the amount that you are paying in after having filled a paying in slip . I do this for my husbands odds and ends - which are rarely complete bags - you just need to get stocked up from the counter with some fast bags which are thick plastic bags to put all the smaller money bags in. You can also use this system over the counter where the cashiers will count your deposit later in the day.0

I used to be a cashier for Lloyds, and I used to hate people coming in with all sorts of different amount of change, as it was a real pain to bank, BUT it is still money, and they cant really refuse to take it off you, as they are a bank after all!!
Some cashiers will try and refuse, but stand your ground, and they should take it off you, unless its something really silly, like £1000 in 50ps or something!
The least they can do is ask you to come back later when it's quieter.
I am a firm believer in the idea that banks should look after people regardless of how much money they have, but sadly, they dont always work this way.I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore :beer:0 -

I so agree with that.
Anyway the upshot was I was allowed to pay the £1 in 5ps in and they took it no probs.
So thanks everyone for your replies.

for those of you you fill big old whiskey jars full of shrapnel, this may be a shrewd investment, and much better than those blooming coinstar rip off merchants!
(personally, i quite enjoy counting out the fruits of my labout, but im sad like that , and i know other people hate having to count it all out :money: :rotfl: )
note to mods - seeing as this is where people post most often about issues regarding saving/counting/banking large amounts of small change, i'd appreciate it if you'd let it run its course before moving it to the argos board, if you feel thats the best place for it!know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
