Some barclays have machines where you deposit the money into a coin machine (like coinstar) and it totals it up and adds to your account

Are these the ones they have in Asda?
I've never used the ones in Asda but have been intending to - I thought they just rounded down if you didn't have round pounds? And I understood that the difference went to charity?
But I don't know

Why dont you try your local shops. We have to pay to get change from the post office, so it is nice when someone comes in with a bag full. But dont get stroppy like some people do if you are told no, we have a limited amount to spend on change for security reasons. Also please make sure they are in the correct donomination (SP).0

I've used the one in Asda. It takes a percentage, about 10%, and gives you a receipt to use against your shopping.
Nationwide only take 5 bags a day.0 -
Have no problems at local BoS but it's only open a few hours a week so tried main branch in town for a change ( no pun intended!)to be told limit is 5 bags but I could go to the buisness banking Q and put it in there! Q was very long and had already waited ages so decided to hang on till villiage one opened. On the way home we had to pass another (small) branch and they were only to happy to take my money.moral small is better0

I paid in about £150 in bags of coins recently. Barclays and Lloyds were only too happy to take them. No problems. No hassles.Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0

try your local corner shop/pub!
They have to pay to get change, so will probably be more than happy to take it (you might get a free drink out of it too!)0 -
I think businesses can refuse coins above a certain amount. I forget which. Try paying your council tax with them. When the poll tax came in, I paid it all in mixed coin.Small change can often be found under seat cushions.
