When i checked the C Drive it says:
Used Space - 70.5 GB
Free Space - 78.4 GB
Capacity - 149 GB
There is option to Disk Clean up (worried about these as never know what to get rid of!)
Also Compress disk to save more space.
We have AVG running for viruses & its up to date.
Speed Processor?? I have no idea! Its a Fujitsu Siemeens Scaleop if its any help!
Open up ccleaner
Top left it should tell you what you have
For example, mines ~ intel core 2 duo cpu e8400 @ 3Ghz, 4Gb RAM, ATI Radeon
use that for a disc cleanup (Completely safe I assure you)
Your 500 Gig hardrive needs formatting (What i mean by that is, it needs 'splitting') as XP cant 'see' the rest of it (Which creates more PARTITIONS)
Download swiss knife ~
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/SwissKnife.shtml
It will 'find' the rest of your hard drive for you. Format the unformatted sectors (It may actually split into 3 sections, meaning C (Which you already have) and 2 others!) ***DO NOT FORMAT C DRIVE***
the extra drive (Or 2) will give you LOADS more room
* or have I got this completely wrong? Do you have 2 hard drives? I was kind of assuming that you had replaced the C drive (as in youe have just the 1 hard drive):idea:0 -
OK... I installed Hijack this... and this was the list that came up. Let's hope it means something to somebody!
I also disabled and removed two versions of the services.exe file in WinSecurity, as mentioned above.

This is not a Start Up list.
Did you run Malwarebytes' Anti Malware?
Norton Removal.0 -
I couldn't install it - got message that file is damaged. But I have got Adaware + Spybot.
What's the Norton Removal about? I have no "product key" (it's a second-hand computer) if indeed it is installed on my system.0 -

It's about removing Norton.
Try downloading again; Malwarebytes's AntiMalware.0 -
From you link I get a popup window when I try to install - "file corrupted"
So no, I haven't managed to install this program. What am I doing wrong with hijack this?0 -
Did you 'save' the file to your computer in the first place, before trying to 'Run' it?
Have you used the Norton Removal Tool?0 -
I installed the Malware program. It found quite a few things, which I deleted. The Norton page asks me lots of questions about which version I have which I have no idea about - I can see that there's something by Symantec on my system, but Norton? And on the Norton link there's no mention of Symantec.
Anyway, the system seems more stable recently. What is really bugging me now is the fact that the Internet connection keeps dropping, and it takes ages for the TalkTalk program to get it back.0 -

Basically, Norton = Symantec and it's not a positive thing to have on your PC these days. Used to be great products but nowadays (unfortunately) they cause more problems than they solve - for some reason they still get put on almost every new pc out there....0
