  • Marion, I am so glad to hear your swapbox has arrived, knowing that last time it never did:j :j .
Sandee -welcome to our friendly helpful board. WE have had members before who have used reductil as you are doing - with full support of GP with all the monitoring etc, and it seems like a very good tool, especially as you realise you have to work at it too Really glad it seems to have helped after all these years. Stick with us and post often for maximum benefit would be my advice.
Learning portion control is definitely important: I bought us smaller plates deliberate so we can pile the food on but still not over eat.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • Missy, I keep looking at the Wii Fits and wondering how long the novelty would last - knowing me, probably not very long. Good if you can get your money back by selling on.

    Sandee, :hello:

KPC, my swap box arrived today, very exciting. My sending swappee wrote 'not to be opened before 6th on it', I didn't do this so I hope my receiving swappee realises it is a swap box. Is there a specific time on the 6th when we are supposed to open them? I work all day so evening would be best - or do we open when we can resist no longer.

Lois, are you listing on Amazon - just me being a nosey Amazombie - there is a thread on the Ebay and Jumble Sales board.

Hi all, and welcome to Sandeevie, thanks for sharing your story!
My swapbox was posted out today and I received mine today too! Thankyou already to whoever sent it.
FFM, I seem to remember that last time most people were opening their boxes at the crack of dawn :rotfl:
I have had a very bad day eating wise, a Freddo at 10am and nothing til 5pm, due to stress but am making a good dinner later.
Have a great evening all and good luck for WIs tomorrow x

Yes I am - I actually got started with it because of a thread here on MSE. :D

It's a great facility, but the money to be made was reduced when the post office introduced pricing in proportion, which makes it quite expensive to sell books. I used to have in excess of 200 CDs and sold the lot, mainly on Amazon.

    Thanks for the tip.

anyway the sad thing is that I DO not get an assesor, I wanted someone that pestered me, kept ringing with this and that job and kept me on my toes until I secured a position but oh no can't have one of those because I am not on benefits, so put me on them I said (I lack self confidence and independent drive but once I get in the job and going I am fine told her all that and asked for an assesor) no because your OH earns too much:rolleyes: so no help there, sign this form to keep the numbers up (hers to justify her job) off you go and so long:rolleyes:

Sorry to hear you didn't get any help Victory. Can't you apply for Job Seekers Allowance? You were working before you moved so you've presumably been paying National Insurance, which is what you need. When you're on JSA you have to sign on every 2 weeks, and you have regular reviews where they discuss your job seeking activities and what else you could do.

You're doing the right thing by applying for jobs, so keep looking through your local paper, sign up for online recruitment agencies, and visit the Job Centre regularly to check the vacancies they have. It's always worth applying for a job even if you don't have all the skills required (it's a good idea to have some though!) - it will give you practice at selling yourself through the application form or letter, and if you're lucky enough to be shortlisted for interview, you'll become much more confident even if you don't get the job.

If you've got any spare time, you could also consider volunteering for a local charity - it looks great on your CV, and you could learn some transferable skills that will make you more employable. To find out about volunteering opportunities look for your local CVS or volunteer bureaux in the yellow pages.

In case you haven't already guessed, I used to work in Human [strike]Remains [/strike]Resources. ;)

Hi everyone, I am back from my trip to Belgium and have had such a laugh reading through the last 5 days posting!

Welcome back Marion - OH and I had a similar experience when we went self-catering in Bavaria over New Year a few years ago. New Years Eve was a Sunday, we arrived on the Saturday to discover that the shops close early, don't open on Sundays and were closed again on Monday as it was New Years Day! We did manage to find a couple of restaurants so dinner was sorted, but breakfast and lunch were a problem.
    Alex is back:j,

Wouldn't it be great if Petrichor made a reappearance too... :D

I guess that's why she left :rotfl:

Actually, we used to have a really great HR lady where I used to work - funnily enough she was the one who was made redundant

Thanks for all the advice it is very helpful, much appreciated and yes have already previously worked and volunteered for Barnados which are transferable skills, loved it would consider doing it again (nearly did today because I know they would take me on then and there) but OH would kill me as it is unpaid and we need the money now the mortage is here with us for life:rotfl: :rotfl:

Theo ther day I was in a game shop asking for something my son wanted, called the kid over and asked, 'ugh?' he said, repeated the question 'no idea' came the reply, 'well could you ask someone who does know then?' 'I suppose' he said, OMG, I could do retail customer services, helping the customer so much better with my eyes closed than he could ever do so EMPLOY ME and not a teenage alien:rotfl: :rotfl:
