I do think with this weight reducing lark you really have to be in the right frame of mind. I read an article in the papers at the weekend of a lady who paid privately to have a gastric band and really did not lose much weight as she was melting chocolate etc and did not really change her eating habits.

I find a couple of programes on Discovery Health help me - Fat Doctor and Fat Family Doctors, one in USA one in Chichester - it keeps me focused on my goal and seeing them lose weight afterwards cheers me up especially the UK ones.

Not really a comfort eater myself if I am upset I don't eat, but feel that the regular packet of crisps a day and two biscuits with tea etc is as they say what done for me and it has taken 20 years to put 4 stone on, crept up on me. Nearly had a heart attack when I saw I weighed 15st 6lbs, so hopefully when I weight myself tomorrow I will have broken the 14st mark and will be 13st something - fingers crossed.

Hi Beanie - you'll find it in the same aisle as rice and pasta. Here's a picture so you know what you're looking for!

I had a great holiday, thanks for asking, but I haven't found the courage to face the scales yet and I'm not expecting it to be good news when I do - too much good food, and too many cocktails. :o What's really strange is having spent two weeks in sunshine with temperatures in the high 20's, and coming back to winter (it's snowing here today and that rarely happens in mid-winter, never mind October!)

For my first ever time can I report a 1 lb loss please?
Feeling very proud of myself, went to Nando's the other night and had a caesar salad with no parmesan :j
Contemplated walking back from uni today (it's 20 minutes on the bus but that's with traffic) but it was sooooo cold

Hugs to all who are ill, thanks KPC and retiredlady for welcoming me back :D

    Love and hugs

Well done losers and everyone else who's had a good result this past week! Hope the people who are not feeling well get better soon :(

I have STS this week which is great! 10th week without a gain. My problem is I am still on 'diet' calories and I really want to get them up to a proper maintain level! I have basically stalled on 1500 cals/day for the last 4 weeks. To maintain I should be able to have 1730/day if I'm lightly active, or 1950/day for moderately active. I think I'm close to moderately active with all the exercise I do?

Not sure what to do now - I'm thinking of giving it a break for a week and enjoying a gain, cos I'm so much more efficient at losing weight than I am at maintaining! :rotfl:

Good luck everyone this week :)

Hi missy, Well done on STS and for a 10th week in a row with no gain. You know I've never been able to get my head round your figures - the only explanation I've ever come up with is that your body is extremely efficient.

Taking a break for a week sounds like a good idea especially as you know you can rein it back in again.

I've got a work buffet lunch again tomorrow (with biscuit tea/coffee breaks throughout the day), so I've taken it easy for the last 2 days, but we also went out for another meal at the weekend - so far this week I've averaged approx 1800 each day, so as tomorrow is likely to be 2500 - 3000, Thurs and Fri will need to be 1200-1500, to keep my weekly total to approx 12000-13000. Could be in for another gain

Not long before all the work Christmas lunch/dinner invites start coming in. It won't be so hard this year, but this time last year I was nearing my target and it felt like they were sent to sabotage my efforts.
