  • I couldn't 'let it be', I fiddled with one of the calculators until I found the corresponding weights for 2000 calorie intake for someone of my age and height.

I got the following: 14 stone 5 lbs (sedentary), 13 stone 5 lbs (lightly active), 10 stone 0 lbs (moderately active) and 7 stone 6 lbs (very active)

So, no wonder I can't maintain on 2000.

Haha that's exactly what I did FFM, just played with the numbers till it was as close as possible to 2000 (without going over) Quite scary to think that an intake of 2000/day would eventually lead to becoming 13 - 14 stone if sedentary...

I think you deserve more than a mince pie for braving the shops today - have an imaginary second one too ;)

PCL - enjoy your break! :D

2000 isn't a target though, it's an 'average'...? I am guessing they assume light to moderate activity (recommended 30 mins/day?) which in my case would come out at 11.5 stone, which would be about a 14-16 clothes size I reckon - which I think is right for the UK average?

Okay, fair enough :D I was going on a 'right old rant' back at base :rotfl:

    I was 11st 3lb when I decided to lose weight, 'cos I was a 'rising' 14.

I didn't feel 'average', I felt lump dumpy and frumpy.

Aw FFM :D Didn't mean to get you on a rant with my findings!

I was similar to you - 11 stone was my freak out moment. I was top heavy then and a size 16 on top. It's evened out very nicely now I'm pleased to say :D (Sorry any menfolk who prefer a bit more up top!!! :rotfl: )
  • Tee hee, wasn't a huge rant, but I think a range might be more 'useful'.

I wouldn't mind being top heavy, (well just a little bit - 'cos I know too much can cause probs). I can buy my undies in Tammy :o .

I was a 12 top, 14 going on 16 bottom, looked like a real weeble.

Haha that reminds me of trying to get my waterproof hiking trousers and the 10 was too big so I asked what the next size down was and they said "Age 13"!!!

Did you weigh in today oh Funky one?
  • Ha ha, I've pinched DS's fleece, he's grown out of it and it fits me just fine (except for the arms which are a bit short), it's 11-12.

Yes I did weigh in, 11947 calories for a 0.8lb gain.

I checked and double checked my numbers, wondered if I had miscalculated last night's Indian, had my porridge and then nature called (probably too much detail but that explained the gain which was a bit larger than I was expecting but is okay in the scale of things.)
