Great advice for you from peeps Vic. Personally I would take a direct approach and ask my nephew - if you can't face that, what about emailing him? I say this so you can stop questioning yourself and know the reason; then, let go of all expectation as BB says xx
Yuk to the squirrel hunting/eating KPC! I agree totally with not killing for sport, but also in not killing at all ;) I always liked the sound of your events but would have to draw the line at the eating part (a-ha, a new weight loss plan? :rotfl:)

thanks peeps:D I know you are all right so will see what nephew says, I have had masses of emails today from relatives with chit chat (the drums have been on over-drive 'she knows, cover yourself email her with happy news, let me not be the villan:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: a bit late if you ask me)
You are right about one thing my tight happy normal functioning open communication family here are the best thing and I would never treat a stranger with such disregard as I have been let alone a member of my own family but they say you reap what you sow.....

im the proud owner of a washing machine. The blokes who delivered it were a pair of oil tankers though. Thankfully it didnt take long.

Today is day one of the parking. It takes over 5 mins to walk to the car, cos i timed it. The press have been down where i live taking photos because a number of people have been clamped. Glad im not the only one who cant park there, at least there are others.
  • Sounds a bizarre set up that there is parking space at the development but your are not allowed to park there:confused: . Really glad the washing machine has arrived:j .
Love the squirrel recipe:rotfl: . I bought a wild rabbit ( for consumption, sorry peeps:o ) today at a local butcher. Going to do it in a cider casserol on Sunday:j . This morning I tackled a sweet tooth craving with a 17p waffer thin milk choc bar. Seemed to do the trick.
Lois, you really are progressing on your plans aren't you:j .
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

All this talk of squirrel/rabbit stew reminds me of singing Bright Eyes to my family as they tucked into traditional Maltese rabbit stew when I was a kid. I managed to make my sis feel so guilty she couldn't eat it!

Squirrels - lovely to look at but little !!!!!!s otherwise! I had two years of the furry demons getting into my loft and running between the floorboards. At the time would willingly send them to their maker but don't think I could munch one!
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

sorry vix, squirrel stew not a joke. I'm going hunting, and i've always maintained that if you kill it, you ought to eat it. Marion, what are your scan bran cakes? they sound interesting.

Good Morning, I am a big scan bran fan!
Scan brans are a very high fibre crispbread available at Slimming World classes or at Holland & Barrett. They taste a little like cardboard to eat although with a chopped up banana on are not too bad. I normally make a cake or muffins though as it is easier and tastier to eat. Each scan bran is only 1/2 syn so they are very low (I am allowed 15) or you could have 5 as a health extra b choice (heb) . The recipe calls for 5 scan brans and I am willing to guarantee anyone who eats these everyday will become a very regular person:whistle:(hope that was subtle enough:cool:)

This is how I make them:
    1. 5 scan brans broken up into little pieces into a mixing bowl
    2. pour enough boiling water on so that the moisture is all absorbed, helping the process along by mashing it up with a fork, you should end up with a fine crumbly bran but not overly wet.
    3. add 2 eggs, 1/2 tsp each of cinnamon and nutmeg, 1 tblsp splenda and 1 or 2 tblsp mincemeat. Mix all together well with the fork and you should end up with something that looks vaguely like a muffin batter;)
    4. Pour/spoon the batter into a suitable dish for cooking in the microwave - I use a silicone muffin thingie (can't really call it a tin can you cause its silicone) but an ordinary bowl would do
    5. Microwave for 4 1/2 minutes
    6. Take out, let them cool down a bit and enjoy! Lovely cakes, good for you and low in syns, syn count is 4.5 for all of it if you used 1 tblsp mincemeat or 6.5 for all of it if you used 2 tblsp mincemeat.
These are nice on their own or with a yogurt on top or for a really nice pudding I put a couple in a bowl, add some frozen fruits of the forest and make up some custard using 2 tsp custard powder (4 syns) and milk from my allowance and of course sweetener!
It sounds a lot more complicated to make than it is, I can mix these together in less than 2 minutes and bung them in the microwave!

    Love
    Marion

    a wild rabbit ( for consumption, sorry peeps:o ) today at a local butcher. :j .
Oh that so reminds me of when my dad was alive we always had rabbit and it was lovely and then it went out of fashion because of the rabbit disease which name escapes me and have rarely had it since but am now going to ask OH if we should buy one, I can smell the rabbit stew now:D

marion I tried scan bran when it was talked about a while ago from Holland and barratt, ate it all because I had bought it but never got on with it, has a very strong harsh taste to it, very hard to digest, did the banana thing and the hummus but never bought any again.

My fav at the moment is the sainsburys low fat hummus, love it and so do the kids, seeing them having loads of crackers with it on makes me smile, who says kids don't eat healthily?

  • I had garlic rabbit in Spain this summer, it was very yummy. Saw wild rabbit for £4.50 at a recent farmer's market - thought it a bit pricey. Need to go shoot my own me thinks - very mse that way.

Beanie - went to Iceland this morning, AH couscous £1 for 3 sachets.
