Winter is on the way! Last chance to lose a few lbs before the Christmas choccys!

Welcome to the place where we encourage you not to save £'s but to lose Lb's instead :D

So you wanna lose weight? You've come to the right place! :D Need a chat, a shoulder, advice perhaps or even some downright silliness??

Pull up a chair and join in the chat, whatever plan you're following to lose weight, be it SW, WW, RC, or just plain old reducing what you eat and increasing the exercise, there'll be someone here that can help and advise, or offer moral support.

There are plenty of regulars here who follow all types of plan and will be willing and able to help you out or at least point you in the right direction.

During the course of the week, feel free to post your weekly loss, gain or no change, and see your results in a chart that's updated every Wednesday evening. To help us older folk quickly spot the losses, please post the loss as BOLD and Colourful as possible :) (Its helps those of us with bad eyes ;) )

Also you can take part in the 5lb monthly challenge - This is a fun mini motivational monthly challenge, in which the goal of losing 2lb per week, is spread out to 5lb per month. Next one has just about started so get your name down quick and post your name and start the new list. You could be Slimmer of the Week, or Slimmer of the Month! :j:j The chart is currently maintained by one of our delightful ladies, Lois Lane

We have plenty of recipes to help you in the recipes thread (link below) and there are links to useful websites below.
  • Various SW and WW style recipes can be found HERE

    Well Done Raph
I can rest easy now. The mantle been passed over  I would like to think the thread can move on now.

I will be back later with my weigh-in, but its not looking good, following the curious incident of the Indian last Saturday night and the even more curious incident of the bag of chips on Wednesday night. To be fair I have played rugby/walked or trained every single day, but this maintaining lark is hard work. Im going to consult my graph from last year to see if playing rugby adds a little something. Not looking to make an excuse, but to me logic seems to have gone out of the window this week. :)

Ohh Raph well done! Shiny new thread! Staying in today (AGAIN) for the man to come and replace our fridge door. The so and so dropped the last one in our kitchen - denting it- and then tried to cover it up!!!

Anyway will try to be extra good today as I've been a bit off the last few days (migraine!) and the diet was the last thing on my mind. It's strange but when I get one I feel really nauseous, occasionally getting sick, but when it comes to food there are only a few things I can stomach. Mashed potatoes and Whoppers with Cheese (just as I'm getting better) are top of the list. Poor hubby has to go out to get BK usually at about 11.30pm, but my eldest DS doesn't mind sitting with me as he gets a feed too!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend Bails. My friend is still having her treatment but manages to go walking/running whenever she can. She says it helps her stay positive and whilst she was always a bit eccentric in the dress department she wears an array of wigs with funky hats. She has four kids and we see her everday at the school dropping the kids off. We all think she is magnificent!

Hi Delly. Looking gooooood! How are you and your DS?

Hope you are feeling better KPC.

Hope your headache's better Tagz, migranes are awful!

Embarrased to report a 1lb gain :o, not very good for a first week:eek:. Thought I was doing OK with all the exercise, plus I've given up alcohol and crisps (my main weakness!) but obviously still eating too much:o. Time to cut back some more...

Am off to the pool in a bit for aquafit and lane swim, might do a bit of cycling this afternoon if the weather holds, otherwise wii fit, I have to start losing at some point:confused:.

    Have a good day everyone

Woo hoo, new thread, thanks Raph!
Thanks for all the comments peeps, much appreciated. I'm going to send her a lovely bunch of flowers today.
Leyla, it seems that you're doing a lot of exercise so it could well be muscle which weighs more than fat. Have you measured yourself as well as weighed, as you can then see changes in the inches even if not on the scales. Keep going!

That happened to me! I dropped a dress size but didn't shift any weight. Annoyed the hell out of me but I felt thinner whilst it did!

Bails - sending loads of positive vibes to your friend, and those close to her.

Thanks for the new thread Raph, and thanks Suggs for all the previous ones - I think I joined as a poster during your first one, which IIRC was about a year ago now!

Suggs I wouldn't be at all surprised if playing rugby makes your body keep a little extra meat on your bones! This happens with me every time when I up the exercise. I spent 12 weeks trying to lose 5lb this summer (on a strict 1lb/week loss pace) while I was exercising a lot, and it wouldn't budge. I've done the same since coming back from hols, with only wii fit for exercise, and it's off with extra in 5 weeks  Fat % and Muscle % have remained fairly constant. So I know exactly what you mean when you say logic is out the window!

Leyla 1lb gain could be anything, I'd suggest not drawing any conclusions after just one week, although I know how tempting it is to see a gain and double your efforts the following week - been there again and again! :D

Hope the poorly peeps feel better before the weekend starts :(

Treated myself this morning with toast AND a croissant for brekkie :D
  • Missy - do you know anything about skiing in Bulgaria? Thinking of going for a couple of days in January (as a surprise trip for DH) but heard mixed things about it. We are total beginners. Any advice?
  • Oooh shiny new thread - thank you for setting this up Raph and huge THANKS to Suggs for setting the previous ones up!!
