    What's the problems with the red onions? I get them from Aldi and Lidl, great in curries.

    Already been stated - they went soft and rotten quickly. Maybe if you use them up soon they're OK.

    However, in the past I have had them horrible - mouldy and soft straight from the pack, unusable. Hopefully they are better quality now but I won't buy them from there any more since I can't really see what they are like from outside the plastic. Plus I use them for salads and such as well as cooking.

    Thanks for the warning on the Aldi red onions. I find the same thing with the Lidl ones...thought that I was doing something wrong:o

    The value bags of red onions from Tesco and Asda are hard, last a long time and are good quality - give them a try.

    During this part of the year it is a change over from old stored season onion to new season. Both Lidl & Aldi would have a minimum of 2 suppliers of red onions thus explaining why some stores have better than others !

    The Figs at Lidl this week are very very good !
    As are the Plum cherry tomatoes and value at 50p :T

    Lidl;

    I hear from Friends that Which? magazine have found the Lidl washing powder to be one of the best, but haven't got round to trying this yet.

    I tried the concentrated non bio liquid and it is very good, only 1/2 a capful went in and it smells lovely.

  • Aldi have a new baked bean recipe, Got to say im a fan. Bit of a bean snob as well so that says something. Very similar taste to Branston, nice thick sauce.
  • Recommended at Aldi.....Pimm's and their new Vive Lemonade. The Pimm's is hugely reduced (about 40% off) and you wouldn't believe the lemonade is only 39p, it tastes like one of the expensive brands.

    The only problem is they keep selling out at my local store.
    I'm kind of a big deal

    Has anyone seen any of the smoked salmon & sauces in Lidl recently?

    They used to do Gravadlax, a Chilli one and a Pepper one with horseradish sauce.

    The were about £2 and most of the time really nice salmon, not seen any in a few of my local stores when I have been recently. I will be gutted if they have stopped doing them! :o:(
