  • I buy Lacura cosmetics from aldi as I know from an insider that they are made especially for aldi (and are identical with L'oreal) as many of Aldi's 'own' brands are produced for aldi by market leaders.

I use Aldi nappies, they are pretty good but the Asda little angels ones are 2 for a tenner at the moment so working out cheaper.

Do buy any of their other baby products? I've been trying to find good value wet wipes. At the mo the prefered ones are pampers sensitive as you can take them out of the packet one at a time, rather than in clumps if you know what I mean? But sooooo dear (Around £2.69 a pack!) Obv I never pay that lol

    Lidl;
Smoked Back Rindless Danish Bacon, approx 8 slices at around £1.09 pack, although has been on offer at 79p recently
    Apple Juice @£0.84p tetrapack
Gelatelli Ice Cream, A variety of mini magnum style ice creams in Milk, Dark, White and Almond Chocolate with Vanilla Ice Cream Filling, Box of 12 (3of each) @ £1.99
    Chicken Tikka Masala Sauce
Fabric COnditioner - Doussey - Blue bottle with Red/Pink top, @£0.89p for 2Litres - Great item
Cien Antibacterial Hand Wash Gel in a pump dispenser, - This is FAB...its soap free and approx £0.79p (approx) for 500ml, in my opinion smells of mango.
Paracetamol, Caplets 19p per box of 16.
Chocolate Creme Dessert, @£0.79p per 4 pots.
Diced Beef Steak, Good Lean meat, £2.29 per pack - Needs a slow cook, but tastes lovely.
Lean Mince Beef, @£1.99 per pack
White Pitta Bread, 6 Pitta in Pack @£0.39p
Naan Bread, Plain, 2in a pack for £0.55p
Cheese - Emmental Slices (great for Burgers) and Brie
Potato Salad, 1kg, Sliced potato (as opposed to chinks) and the best we have ever tasted.

    Not so sure about;
Crisps, Crusti Croc Crinkle Crisps, 12 pack mutlipack for £1.55, similar to MCoys. They are ok, kids like them but they but don't have as much flavour as other similar brands

I hear from Friends that Which? magazine have found the Lidl washing powder to be one of the best, but haven't got round to trying this yet.

Prices I have listed are from my Lidl shopping in August 2010 in Lidl.
    Hope this helps,

I get the wipes too - less than £1 a pack. I generally prefer huggies if they are on special offer but the Aldi ones are fine if not. Only the fragrance free ones though, the regular ones gave my wee man a shiny red bum! Lol.

I've used the Mamia sensitive skin wipes to remove make up for years without any problems. I found that they even remove waterproof mascara. (Johnsons wipes don't and make my skin feel tight and dry) HPH

    Have to recommend their
Choco Nuggets cereal - gorgeous and came out way before Krave did!
Olive Oil - It's in a tall attractive bottle and is very good.
Multivitamin juice - very nice and good price
    Frozen Pizzas - excellent value
Chicken Kievs and Corden Bleus - Excellent 100% breast unlike reinforced ones.
Hair conditioner - Can't remember what it's called but it's excellent. I'm very fussy about my hair (go to Toni and Guy to get my hair done) yet this is just as good as expensive brands. It's only about 89p. I use the purple one for coloured hair.:)
  • Not sure if already mentionned but we tried the Aldi frozen aberdeen angus beef mince this week in a spag bol, and very pleased! Was somewhat hesitant as have memories of mum using godawful frozen mince but this was very tasty, no gristle and tasty. Not sure if works out much cheaper than fresh, but with me doing shift work its very handy to cook straight from frozen :) Their frozen pork sausages made a good toad-in-the-hole too :)
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:

I bought some frozen salmon fillets from Aldi this week. They were awful! They looked and tasted nothing like salmon. Has anyone else tried them?

    Aldi:

    good -

their 1.99 anti-wrinkle and sea minerals creams
    feta cheese
the fruit and veg offers can be very good value
    houmous with lemon
    Australian Badgers red wine
cotton buds, razors and sanitary towels are fine and good value
their premium bread - lovely and less than a pound

    bad -

    the cheaper carlos frozen pizzas
the cakes in the bread section
red onions I find poor (go soft and rotten quickly)
    plums, kiwi fruit, non-vine tomatoes
    toothpaste - prefer colgate
    anti-perspirant roll-on

so-so - the special offers - i don't really get wild about the products.. I don't think I have bought something that turned out to be 'fantastic'.. best was a bike pump for £5 .. and have got a few things that I regret, such as lightweight gym/travel towels that just don't absorb water, or the kitchen and egg timers which I later saw in Home Bargains for £1 cheaper each.

lidl (have only tried a few things from here):

    good -

frozen pizzas - good and cheap when on offer
Their jaffa cakes are very sweet and different but I quite like
    vine tomatoes
fruit and veg offers can be even better value and quality than Aldi

    bad -

houmous (just didn't like it as much)
  • Re. Lidl paracetamol 19p for 16. It's cheaper in Boots! 16p for 16!

Made the trek to local Lidl the other day to scope it out and, I have to say, I was really disappointed! The best deal for me was the Pitta at 39p and Kidney Beans at 20p a can. Oh, 6 free range eggs at 99p - was excited by this but you really CAN tell the difference and won't be money saving there because they didn't taste very nice. Ended up using them in a cake!
