  • My Lidl faves are lemonade, the sweet n sour sauce in jar (red lid), noodles (just as good as super noodles, my kids can't tell the diff), tinned tomatoes and meat

Try Lidl Chicken pasta shell soup! Now it's £0.89 but was £0.79
  • Heads up for next Monday (1st March), Lidl are doing Pepsi 2l bottles for 78p.
  • hello everyone, this is my first post but came on to say I have bought some things at Lidls this week for the first time and Im impressed. just had some delicious lamb leg steaks.... NZ lamb and only £2.45 for 330g. nice big steaks.

    also chilled pepperoni pizza £1.59
    milk 2 pints 69p
absolutely delicious choc gateau with real cream and hazlenuts £2.89
    cherry bakewells 68p
    raspberry jaffa cakes 95p
    energy drink 25p
    jacket potatoes 24p for two
also had some asolutely vile tinned spaghetti hoops but only 19p so not wasted loads of money.

also bought, ham, bacon, curry and pasta sauce but cant comment as have not yet tasted them.

had a quick look in local big supermarket and all the above are way cheaper apart from own brand cherry bakewells which were exactly the same price
and the pasta sauce I bought is only 9 pence dearer but an extra 30g in the jar and a much higher percentage of real tomatoes.

Bottled water is also cheap at Aldi - just over £1 for 4 bottles of carbonated water.

I don't understand why people think that Lidl is cheap?? It's actually not, sometimes you pay more then you would pay in big supermarkets!

Think it depends if you do a full shop or not. The prices are comparable to the 3 main supermarkets really, just head in when they have the fruit n veg deals and the suchlike - pick and choose.

It's even cheaper from the tap! Agreed you can't get carbonated water from a tap, but I will never understand why people buy bottled water!

Some items are cheaper, some are not. From Lidl I get sun-dried tomatos, little gem lettuce and mozarella for sandwiches at less than 2/3 the price of the Tesco metro nearby. I get sliced cheese and rolls from Tesco.

The kitchen-roll formerly known as Bounty is significantly cheaper from Lidl, and they recently had Ariel dishwasher gel-packs (or whatever they are!) for half the price they are in Tesco.

Similarly, some of the specials are great value, but others aren't.

Agreed this is not ideal for family shopping, but if you have enough room to store things in cupboards, we do one shop one week at big supermarket, and shop round Lidl the next.

    Cheers,

I don't live that close to a LIDL but call in when I get chance for a few things!

My favourite / tastiest things are: :D

    Caramel Shortcakes (Pack 4 - 99p)
    Chocolate Brownies (Pack 4 - 99p)
    Chocolate Orange Brownies (Pack 4 - 99p)

Smoked Salmon Marinated in Pepper with Horseradish Sauce
Smoked Salmon Marinated in Chilli with Horseradish Sauce
Gravadlax Smoked Salmon with Mustard & dill Sauce All £1.99
Personally I think their Smoked Salmon is lovely and far nicer than Tesco Finest / Sainsburys Taste the Difference which is twice the price and you get less in a pack!
Does anyone know if you can freeze these???? It doesn't say on the pack?

    Pot of Tzatziki 99p

I find generally the fruit and veg seem to be tastier than the same things I get from Tesco?

The last couple of times I have been there the Avocados have been 29p each and they are the nicest I have had for years!

Only thing I can think of that I didn't like was their Houmous big pot for 99p but I wasn't too fussed on that?

The only ALDI things I can think of at the moment are:

Moser Roth Chocolate bars and truffles various prices all lovely particularly the Dark Chocolate Truffles in an octagonal box bargain at £1.49.
Their Smoked Salmon in sauces (£1.99) are also nice but not as good as Lidl ones.
