We do buy the occasional thing in Lidl or Aldi when on a deal, but in my experience many things are in fact more expensive than in Morrisons / Asda / Tesco and even Sainsburys for some things.

Don't think we'll be converting any time soon.

You do need to be very selective. I tend to go there occasionally when they have a good offer on something, although I do know people who go to Aldi's every week for their fruit&veg.

Aldi's I buy their day cream (moisturiser) and pick up veg while I'm in there.

Lidl's I like all their dishwasher stuff (tablets, rinse aid and salt). Rice noodles, Emmental, luxury muesli, frankfurters, shortbread, chicken thighs and Stollen (when in season:D). All their cooked meats and gammon joints are good. There are other good value things like free-range eggs and flour but they're about the same price as Asda or Iceland. I think it rather depends on how much time you have and which shops are available in your area.
  • Dry roasted peanuts! Way better than KP.
  • Lots and lots of good stuff there - but you have to really try it and see what works for you.

Though their German-style deli stuff, hams, cured meats and sausages, are awesome :)
  • Lidls - dry roasted peanuts (so much nicer than KP!) Chopped and plum tomatoes, tinned new potaotes, fruit and veg, self raising/plain/bread making flour, cider, low fat natural yoghurt, deodorants, cold cooked meats, chocolate (my dad is diabetic and only eats dark chocolate and they are one of the few places that do easter bunnies or christmas santas in dark chocolate) farmhouse bread (only 85p for a huge 800g loaf) wholemeal pitta breads, crackerbreads, low fat spread cheese. They also have muller yoghurts/utterly butterfly/cheese on offer quite a lot..

Aldi- definately Chocolate, cat litter ,tinned tomatoes, Archers substitute, dark rum, fruit juice ,ready to cook mussels , £1.79 aldi , £3.99 M& S) ,german cold meats, contential meats, jasmine rice, fish sauce, baslamic vinegar, coco powder, brown sugar, some veg ( not the best quality in my branch but cheap ).
I find a lot of their speciality vinegars, oils are far cheaper and also their baking range is an exellent price.

Lidl - I confirm previous posts recommending luxury fruit & nut muesli, premium ice-cream and ham. Their middle bacon is also good, it's cut thicker than most so there is still some left on the grill pan when you've cooked it! It's also on offer this week for £1 a pack instead of £1.50.
  • Lidl:-
Onion Rings (oven ones rather than crisps)
    Gnocchi Pomodoro (frozen)
    Orange Juice cartons
Cereal bars - sirius banana or chocolate
Rooster potatoes, leeks, bananas, other fruit/veg on offer
    Irn Bru
Cien Sensitive shaving gel (impressed by this at the price)

Aldi: Ravioli it is 35p a can and tastes better than heinz. I go in once every month and half and buy a tray of 12:rotfl: Also pop in if they have fruit and veg on offer

Lidl. Gammon steaks very nice on offer at a £1 for two. Apple juice when on offer. Again fruit and veg when offer. Milk £1.09 for 2 litres.
