Netto is great for the fresh family size lasagne that they do for £1.99 YumYum!"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0
-
Lidl
Definately recommend the individual tracle sponges - very yummy indeed and huge!!!!0 -
I love Lidl
Their best products are:
Luxury Musilei
Their version of weetabix - they're really porridgy!
Their butter -same pack as Lurpack and equally as nice and nearly £1 cheaper for 500grms
Battered haddock
Fish fingers - even the children said how nice they were
Fruit and veg in my local store is always first class and much cheaper than the big supermarkets
Sweets - exellent value
I keep trying the more unusual items, and always surprise myself because I like them.
They also occasionally stock the items you see on holiday, but cannot get here, such as a nut torte (Spain) toasted peanuts (France).
Excellent value.
Worst item - Sliced bread
I've only shopped in Aldi twice, so I cannot compare. I do not like Netto at all. My local store is disorganised and feels dirty. Not a bit like the Netto stores abroad which are clean and inviting.
Enjoy shopping!0 -
aldi has launched online flowers. www.aldiflowers.co.uk. Their flowers have always been very good. Along with their wine best thing in that store by a distance.
The service and staff are shocking however.0 -
:j Great for salted nuts which come in a vacuum sealed tin and v v v cheap
Also their crinkle cut crisps are way too delicious - enjoy!:beer:0 -
Did anyone watch Dispatches: the True Cost of Food on Thursday night? It compared the quality of food in the main supermarkets and discounters. I'll start a new thread on it, but one fact stuck out: the percentage of protein in one of the Aldi budget meat products was as high as the same premium-quality meat priducts in Tesco etc. Weirdly, the supposedly higher-quality product as Aldi had a lower protein percentage.
Thread hereFinally, have you ever shopped at Aldi?
Yes I have. I've written about it. Their cured meats and their cheeses - their Parmesan - are great. They're not the best in the world but they're definitely solid.0 -
I miss Aldi's Staroslav Czech lager - wish they'd get some more back in.0

I have tried the Multigrain bread mix that is on offer at ALDI. I used the fastbake mode on my Panasonic breadmaker, 350 ml water to 500gm mix, NO added butter - the result was the best I have ever made! Still moist after 1 day - not dry at all. Much better than the Hovis mix! I will be stocking up while it is still on offer!!!:j0

I like
Aldi
Bottled 'Black Wych' stout
Tarte fin pizza
Fromage frais with fruit sauce
Malt wheaties
Lidl
Nappies and sensitive wipes
Fromage frais with fruit sauce
Olive spread
Luxury Muesli
Their cheese spread or is it soft cheese?
Little kiddies fromage frais
Fairglobe coffee & sugar, & also the chocolate
Toilet roll & kitchen roll
Anti-bacterial handwash- lasts for ages
The small juice cartons (with a straw) are generous and handy to have in the summer
The chicken salad sandwiches were good
Cien razors
The tubs of Mackies icecream were a good deal, but not sure if they have them now
Nasi Goreing
Mini poppadum crisps, but haven't seen these for a while?
Tins of cashew nuts
Kids waterproofs when on offer0 -

I have tried the multi grain and the granary mix of these and the granary is gorgeous  Again I used 500g/250ml of water and got two loaves out of it.
It is lovely. I have stocked up and will probably go back to get some tomorrow.
