Aldi used to do some lovely salmon in horseraddish sauce in the chilled section that I used to buy often a couple of years ago but they stopped them.
However I love their palma ham, fresh pasta and parmesan. fruit and veg is great value too. Have also started using their night and day cream which is great value for money.0 -
- Supermarket: Aldi
2 pint Fresh semi skimmed milk: 0.49p
Fresh orange juice - 1 litre: £1.19
Bakewells - pack of 6: 0.68p
Chocolate gataeu (has slight brandy flavour): £1.29
My top things to avoid are: Recently started shopping at Aldi and being selective on my purchases.0 -
Supermarket:Lidl
My best buys
the Opticat dry cat food,
the own brand equivalent of Vanish wash additive,
curry sauce in a jar - Rogan Josh is yummy,
balsamic vinegar & virgin olive oil,
black bin bags (thick & tough).
Look out for dead cheap avocado pears & celeriac, seasonally
.Finally the shortbread fingers are really buttery. Worth a visit for anyone.:j0 -
Lidl
I would recommend the following items there:
Frozen pollock (£2.99 for 1kg bag)
Sweet pickle (tastes much like Branston to me)
Bread (strong white) flour
Kania brand herb and spice jars
McCoy style 6 pack of crinkle cut crisps
Juice cartons
Multivitamin tablets
Ibuprofen tablets
That's all I can think of for now.Hoping this year is better than the last.0 -
I love Aldi, do approx 60% of my weekly shop there.
Try everything would be my tip - if you are unhappy with anything - take it back (even if you can only take the empty can/packaging) with the recipt and they will happily give you a full refund.
Personally I find their Rich Roast Coffee unbeatable - better than expensive Nescafe and much, much cheaper.0 -
Sainsbury's is very good at labelling own label products as 'suitable for coeliacs' (ie free from wheat, barley, rye or oat gluten). All the other big chains are AWFUL. Tesco: sort yerselves out.
The good news is that ALDI are pretty good at labelling their own-label products as gluten free - including soups, recipe sauces etc. Well worth a trip if you need gluten free food - much cheaper than health food or specialist on-line stores.
LIDL - useless. NETTO - don't know.0 -
Supermarket: Lidl
My top things to buy are: Fresh Taglitelle pasta- only the spinach variety, Chenin Blanc (Olifants River)- a really good cheap white wine... £3.08 a bottle! Also the cotton wool pads are far superior to most other places and only 79p a pack!
My top things to avoid are: Fresh Taglitelle pasta, egg... way too eggy!0 -
Oh no, Aldi have stopped selling 1 Litre cartons of smoothies - what am I going to do?!Stompa0
