Used to buy this at Christmas at my local Lidl store but they don't have it this year. Anyone know what Lidl's other cream liqueur's are like?0

We bought the three bird roast, but I was very disappointed, ours was only a two bird roast! There was no duck in it at all!
I have saved the wrapper and will see what they say.
Hnmmmm... didn't give a damn, took the wrapper and the receipt in and all they said was where is the meat! They wanted me to save it and take it back so it could be 'analyzed'. Assistant mananger filled in a form and then took it badly when I objected when she marked the box saying custmers satisfied.0 -
That's how it's done in Germany. We don't do celeb chefs.

These are all cookbooks based on what you can buy at Aldi. Don't forget that in Germany, 85% of the population regularly buy at Aldi and Lidl, with these two together holding a 40% share in food retail).
These cookbooks have not been sponsored or authorised by Aldi. It is supposed that Aldi just don't really mind a bit of free marketing in their favour. Because if they did mind, their legal eagles would come down on the author like fire and brimstone.0 -
I've noticed a few other things have increased in price at Aldi lately:
The fruit and nut muesli I used to buy is not on the shelf, replaced by a very similar brand but at £1.49 instead of £0.99. The German "hot dogs" (can't think of the proper name) that come in a jar have gone up from £0.85 to £0.99, too.0 -
I love love love the Aldi stuffed turkey crown with cranberry stuffing. I have had it every year for about 4 years now and everyone raves about it. LOADS and LOADS of meat and the stuffing is to die for. I noticed it had gone up this year though to £12.99 but its massive. I got the last one today :snow_grin. The ones with sage and onion stuffing are no where near as nice though.0

Has anyone tried the cream liquer - the £4.99 one? It is looking to be the same strength as Baileys and from what I have read tasted very similar. Just wondered if anyone buys it?3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

The missus. She says the difference in taste is only a tiny fraction of the difference in price.0

That sounds pretty good then. If we haven't got any Baileys hiding in the cupboard (we have booze stashed everywhere cos we hardly ever drink spirits / liquers..) I shall get a bottle - thanks.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Many of the products in Aldi are of a very good quality and are easily a match for Tesco and Asda products. The twice weekly specials provide an interesting mix of products, although they do get repetitive on the same yearly cycle. However, many of the products have almost doubled in the last twelve months and please spare a thought for the workers who consistently work 12-16 hour shifts if you include commuting and often work with very few breaks. A number of staff end up making themselves ill and mentally and physically drained. The "low" prices are achieved at a human cost.
Asda may be slightly more expensive but the atleast they abide by sensible employment rules.
This may have been the case 2 years ago in some isolated areas, these days we do a 10 hour maximum shift.
It is an amazing place to work, there is certainly no such thing as "a day that drags"!!!!
Everyone at Aldi works their socks off to deliver what you see when shopping! And 99% of those staff love it!
On the break subject - all staff are entitled to all their breaks as set out by UK legislation! Many staff choose not to take their unpaid break. They prefer to just grab a quick bite to eat and get paid. It is pretty boring to sit on your own in a room for 45 minutes! However it is the choice of the person and no barrier is put in place to entitled breaks!
The till system is all about efficiency - efficiency = lower labour costs (the highest cost in business). Less labour = Lower prices!
The idea is - put your trolley in postition, place your goods directly in the trolley, pay (have your method of payment ready), pack your bags at the packing bench.
TOP TIP - make sure your heaviest and least fragile items are loaded on the till belt first.
I can only speak for Aldi as I have no experience of Lidl or Netto.
Thanks to all,
Paul.

My opinion is only my own. It is not in any way authorised or confirmed by Aldi Stores Ltd.😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬0 -
From todays Independent '50 best wines' feature:
#5
2004 Château Romer du Hayot, Sauternes
If you're looking for a classic French sweet pudding wine, you'll struggle to find anything better than this remarkably good-value classic sauternes blend of semillon, sauvignon blanc and muscadelle, whose lusciously concentrated sweet barley sugar viscosity and honeyed botrytis fruit cut by a cleansing blade of fresh acidity make for a delightful confection.

of everything that comes along their way."
