I disagree , you have obviously never had a German breakfast with fresh bread rolls, home made jam, local sausage and cheese, and freshly brewed coffee, yum!
Wanna bet? I've had them for 34 years, and then I moved to England.:D

Fair dos. I only had them for 17 years before I moved to England. Still prefere them to black pudding, soggy mushrooms and sausage thats got unmentionable bits of pig in.....:(
However, must admit English chips from propper chippy are far nicer than any I've ever had in Germany......0 -
Justice be done, it hasn't been established yet what stuff goes into German Wurst, either.
When the shrooms get soggy, that's your own fault.
On chips I better tread carefully here*, in order not to offend the locals ... but I prefer crisp and thin continental fries over English chips, since the latter are often just bland, squidgy and soggy. The fish is great, though.
*Nice pic.0 -

Wisbech is the nearest town to the new Lidl that I believe opens, as you say, on the 8th December. I live just on the borders of Lincolnshire/Cambridgeshire and shop mostly at Tesco. There is also a Farmfoods/Halfords/Brantano etc nearby.
Hope to see you in the new Lidls soon:j0 -

had a flip round Aldi today which I must say I havnt done in ages
bought a few basics to try and a couple of bits for OH's Whisky and Continental hamper and stocked up on the current veggie deal
1 ltr Whiskey for just over £10 was a good buy, Tesco and Asda own brands are £13 ish :j
very impressed, the veg looked so fresh ... will last ages and very inexpensive for a change :j
turkeys 4.00k - 4.8kg for £8 I think seemed quite a good buy as well compared to other prices I have seen around0 -
The Frostys ice cream is lovely - £1.99 a litre and really creamy and nice (OK it's not Haagen Daz or Ben and Jerry's but it's about a third of the price and much nicer than supermarket equivilant or Carte D'Or), and I think that the current 39p fruit and veg promotion is unbeatable. I got the Maris Piper potatoes and they are lovely - the cheapest I can get MP's elsewhere in a supermarket is £1.79 for 2.5kg. The Aldi jaffa cakes are much nicer (IMO) than McVities and the peanut cereal bars are yummy too. I am unsure about buying the 3 bird roast (currently advertised on TV) because it is produced in the far east and I am a bit funny about buying poultry from there. I also looked at the stuffed turkey crowns but couldn't see a country of origin on there so didn't get one. I also love the Aldi "The Pantry" range - the prices for these baking staples (sugar, dried fruits, nuts, chocolate etc) and also herbs and spices are brilliant - much cheaper than the big supermarkets.Jane
