ok, I see what you mean. If you think you've bought meat that smells not right you would get a refund, are you sure its you being over sensitive and not the meat?
I don't use Netto's but I've bought lots of meat and meat products from Lidl which have been fine; I was very wary of their meat at first but I guess its a case of trying them out and see how you go.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

No I think its just the sweaty smell lol as my dad has always checked it and said it smells fine. I am a bit of a weirdo, when I am using raw chicken I scald everything with kettle water and then wash my hands a lot.
I was just checking to see if netto meat was ok as we normally use a butcher. Wins in 09 = A vodka cocktail kit thing lol, £150 Amazon voucher.0 -
I have had fresh beef mince, pork chops, chicken breast and also some small chorizo tapas sausages as well as frozen minted lamb chops and frozen minty lamb shanks from Aldi , turkey breast from Lidl and a whole chicken from Netto and have been very satisfied with them. I have fussy eaters in my house and they are not reserved in saying something tastes "funny".
The only thing I have had a problem with was some cheddar from lidl, that had a very odd taste, which can only be described as tasting like the smell of cow poo.0 -
 I bought a 32" tevion lcd tv from Aldi for £299.00 about 4 months ago. Just after the 30 day money back offer it burnt out.... smoke everywhere in my living room. They referred me to Tevion helpline where there is a 3 year gaurentee. I was given a 'new' TV only to find that the S Video Output on the back does not work. Also the RGB output does not work so I will be sending this one back too.
My advice.... dont bother with Tevion, there are much better brands out there for the same money.
Stay away!0 -
Better advice:
With technical and other items, you have a legal claim against the retailer for a full refund (statutory rights, fit for the purpose and stuff) for 12 months. This overrules any store policy.
Do not send the replacement TV back at your own cost. Instead, take it back to the store and insist on a full refund, claiming statutory rights. Do not be whisked off with their 30 days policy, for they will try that as they have done before. If necessary, mention Trading Standards. If the worst comes to the worst, have TS bring the law into the West.
The 30 days policy is the retailer's attempt to wriggle out of statutory duties and to shift the cost and hassle with faulty items to the manufacturer. As I said, you don't have to play along with it for the first 12 months.0 -
In my local Tesco value thick white sliced bread is 24p:j
Aldi's cheapest bread is 39p, which is far better quality than that of the 24p bread.
The 89p bread in Aldis is premium quality, tastes better than Hovis etc.
It depends on the quality you want, people don't shop in Aldis because its all smart price, in fact there are no "value" ranges in Aldis, the stuff it designed to compete with the ownbrands/Finest ranges in supermarkets for a price between value and own brand.
I shop at Aldi a lot now and it has saved me a fortune, and the quality of food has increased.
I buy all my meat from the local butchers though, even cheaper0 -

Yes, that sums it up pretty well. As long as you're ok with Big Four value range products, you'll fare noticeably cheaper getting those.0 -
I think the quality is excellent and has always been.
Tin toms are nicer than cheap shop brand.
Bread is far nicer than cheap "
I could go on but I won't.
Some things are not nice, but that's the same where ever you go. For instance, Tesco and sainsbury hummous is luvely but asdas is vile.
Lots of things in aldi are better tasting.0 -
It's been mentioned on here before but I tried for the first time today Aldi Saint Etienne Belgian Lager £7 something for 18 x 330ml bottles (funny green plastic ones). Very drinkable not like Stella which I loath0
-
Yes, 7.99 for 18*330ml. Christmas stock to be sold off. Not many left.
It is brewed in Belgium by InBev, Leuven/Louvain (Source: talkative Aldi area manager). It is not Belgian Stella in a different can, though. This rumour is still making the rounds, and I must admit that I fell for it myself. But Belgian Stella has 5.2%, Ste Etienne now has 4.8%, down from 5.0%. So it is definitely not identical. Proven once for all.0
