I know some of you have already mentionned it but the Aldi Korma sauce is the best I have ever tasted - better than any other leading brands in various supermarkets and feels like you have treated yourself to a take away! :T
Their lentil & bacon soup is very tasty too.0 -
The three blade razor system isn't great I agree BUT the blades fit perfectly in a Gillette Sensor Excel and cost far less than Gillette blades and are actually pretty good.
When they have it Aldi Tequila is great and at Christmas their Chocolate Brazils are addictive they are so good.
Ian.
They have two razor systems, a cheaper one and a more expensive one. It's the cheaper one I was referring to. I used it once and ended up looking sort of like Bruce Willis at the end of "Die Hard", just not as tough, and not as handsome, either.
I haven't tried the more expensive razor, which came out later.
Tequila - I better stay clear of that. Bad memories.0 -
Aldi have cooking chocolate in at the moment and its delicious, smooth and creamy just to eat!!! better than most ordinary chocolate. About 68p for a fat slab. Only catch is the chunks are huge gobstobber size, too big for many people (especially the kids) but not me!!
Never got on with the Aldi shaving system, they seemed to be fatally flawed in that the blade heads were sealed, so quickly became clogged and useless. The Lidl triple blade one is not sealed so can rinse out as normal, very sharp too, just as good as the Mach3 I used to use but fraction the cost.
Finally, I went to buy the 500gb external hard drive in Aldi this week (£49.99) but it sold out quick and I missed it. I bought the 750gb they did still have as it was reduced down at the till to £69.99 - when you think about it you get another 250mb for £20, the 500gb was costing £25 per 250mb so its a better deal. Specification the same. Nice solid quality unit too.0 -
I always buy Lidl's weetabix but they didn't have any in yesterday - I bought two boxes on my last trip so haven't quite run out yet!
Their tinned tuna is far superior than the leading brands.
I bought their Q10 night cream yesterday and it's lovely - £1.89 and their Q10 handcream £1.99 - it absorbs well and isn't greasy.
If you like Ginger Nuts (biscuits) then their version are really gingery.
Their version of Nutella is fab, as are their jams and marmalades.
I find their fruit and veg is generally very good - and the peaches taste like peaches. Sounds odd, I know, but if you buy them in the other supermarkets, they're almost tasteless in comparison.
Multipack cartons of apple juice - for a single serving they're very generous, and have a straw.
I find most of their stuff is good, although I've only been shopping there for the last six months. I've not found anything to avoid yet.
They have some brilliant weekly deals, I'm going to pop back for the ironing board and laundry basket that they have in this week, my Mum filled my car with all her shopping yesterday so there wasn't room :rotfl:0 -
Oh yeah
they have Christmas cakes in already, I bought two at £7.99 each to use as a two-tier wedding cake as I'm getting married at the end of the month. I've just ordered some ribbon from Ebay to replace the tartan Christmassy ribbon which is wrapped around it. Much better value than spending £75 on a wedding cake. By the time I've finished with it, it'll look like a proper wedding cake... I hope

I shopped at Lidl yesterday for a freezer stock up. apart from bread, I bough bacon, sausages, and loads of other stuff which I would never even have looked at before! Very pleased with the prices, and I'll get back with verdict when I've tried some of it but just wanted to say thanks to all on this thread :T... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
