Today was the first time I've been to Netto.

I got three jars of Marmite with Champagne (250g) for £1.49 each - it's priced £3 in tesco the regular 125g jars are usually around £1.12.

Should keep me going for a while. :j

(the offer's valid until Sunday I think)
    Looking forward to the future.
  • Top things to buy

    Olive oil
    Green olives
    All their fruit and veg
    Cloudy apple juice
    Feta style 'salad' cheese
    Mozarella
    Parmesan
    Mature Chedar
    Edam
    Gorgonzola
    Sauvignon Blanc
    White Zinfandel
    Prosecco
    Part cooked Ciabatta
    Brown sliced bread

    Things NOT to get;
Digestive or wafer biscuits (check - a lot of their biscuits have Hydrogenated Vegetable Fat which the body cannot excrete - giving a new meaning to a biscuit 'for life')
Any of their pork products (mostly from Denmark where it is unethically and cruelly battery farmed, UK pigs have a slightly better life)
  • I must live in the only town with no Lidl, Aldi or Netto! We have Tesco, 2 Sainsburys and a Waitrose. The nearest one is Lidl which is 10 miles away... I guess it would be worth it for a big family, but I only spend about £20 a week as it's just me!

  • Products I buy in Lidl in preference to my local Tesco:
    Digestive Biscuits
    ACE Fruit Juice
    Chinese Noodle Soup
    Par-baked bread rolls
Packs of mini packets of sweets
    Brioche
    Ham for sandwiches
    Indian & Chinese Ready meals
    Emmental or Gouda Cheese slices
    Cans of Hi-Energy drink
    Pork Loin chops
Any good Special Offers, their shoes and trainers (including children's) tend to wear well.
  • I love Lidl.

    Good stuff sport-smiley-001.gif

Mint tea bags 59p for 25.
Creamy Greek yogurt 1kg. (useful tub with handle to use again).

    Processed peas (awful)
Excite three blade razor system (unless you wanna lick blood)
Brasserie French lager (St Omer goo)
    Hokkien noodles (bland)
  • My favourite ALDI Buys

    Chunky Chilli Beef Soup

Curry Sauces in jars (especially Tikka Masala).
    Siana Moisturising Shower Gel/creme

    Strawberry Jam
    Pikelets (yummy with ALDI jam)
    Baby Wipes
Extra large tins of Rice Pudding
Cones for ice-cream (not full of artificial sweetners, cheaper and lovely and crunchy if you keep in an air tight container once opened)
    Award winning frozen Pizza
    Flowers

    Don't Like
Any (so called) Fresh Fruit and Vegetables
    Lemon Sole Goujons

Personally I love the hazelnut chocolate, and tomato puree is good value.

A few people have mentioned cakes as being good. Some certainly are, but beware because quite a few of them are full of partially hydrogenated vegetable fats which are really bad for you. These have largely been eliminated in all the major supermarkets products. Lidl should do likewise.

    Full support on these three.

But I find their instant coffee quite drinkable.
