Lidl used to do a Stawberry Crisp cereal (Think Jordan's) but I have not been able to get it in ***boasts*** the 2 Lidls near me.
(Yes TWO)
Anybody seen it?
It was really good and half the price...
I also like
cat food (well I don't but she does) in foils at 20p
chocolate
jaffa cakes
the continental biscuit selection (green box) around xmas time
gherkins (think they call them cornichons)
Mini (magnum style) ice creams - been buying these since Lidl one came.
Tissues - buy then for work
I do find that friends and aquaintances who are used to shopping abroad really like Lidl...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

The can of spaghetti hoops contains mostly some very sweet tomato sauce and just a few hoops in the bottom.0

Supermarket: Aldi
My top things to buy are:
The probiotic yogurt drinks
The tapas selection from the chiller cabinet
The "butterpak" margarine
The fajita kits
The oat crunch biscuits
The tinned tomatoes
The big bags of pasta
The fruity shower gel
Most of the cheeses (good cheddars and continental varieties)
The luxury ice cream (cherry choc chip especially good)
The frozen veg
The orange and apple juices
The hot chocolate powder
The choc selections they have in for Christmas
The sugar free lemonade
My top things to avoid are:
The meat products in the frozen BBQ range they have over summer
The orange squash“Money is not the most important thing in the world. Love is. Fortunately, I love money.”0 -
ALDI
Continental apple tart. The pastry is gorgeous!0 -
I only use Netto in an emergency. They do have some good bargains but I generally find that they aren't necessarily as cheap as they claim to be. They tend to sell well known brands in different sized packaging to all other major supermarkets, so you appear to be paying less (at the till) but the actual £/gm, £/LT etc is actually the same or sometimes more expensive than the regular supermarkets.
Also, I wouldnt be able do a full weekly shop in Netto, my local store doesnt have enough variety nor enough stock and the fruit and veg doesn't last long at all.0 -
Some more recommendations for Lidl:
Mini-stollen -- they're delicious and our Lidl's just got them in again for Christmas (October!!!!). The big stollens are good too.
Also, the caramel shortbread is occasionally on a half price offer making it really good value.
Microwave chocolate puds are quite nice, though more syruppy than dark chocolatey.
I used to get the strawberry crisp cereal, but it's not been in for a while. Mind you it didn't work out any cheaper because our three boys would finish a packet in one sitting!
Dishwasher tablets are good, as others have said.
Mango tea when it's in is a refreshing drink.
The white chocolate in the purple cardboard packs is good, and I find it's good for melting to put on baking. T*sco's cooking white chocolate doesn't melt as well (it goes lumpy too quickly).
BTW, has anyone been tempted to buy pins from Lidl when they have their sewing specials and send them to Theo Paphitis (see http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2008/jun/14/theo.paphitis.saving.money)?
Cheers,

The sparkling mineral water in Lidl is lovely (Saskia). It's in a green bottle and costs 25p for 1.5 litres.0
