The lower fat brie at Aldi (about 85p) and the Head Strong shampoo (like Head and Shoulders) are always on my list.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

The jars of pickled gherkins, potato salad in tubs (amazingly good) and chocolate spread from Lidl are all really good. OH says the teabags in the red box are fine, especially for the price (about 40p!!). Oh and the cloudy apple juice (Vitafit Apfelsaft) is just lovely. I was knocked out when I read the ingredients:
Made directly from the fruit. Fruit content: 100%. No added sugar. Enriched with vit. C.

    INGREDIENTS: Apple juice, Vitamin C

How good is THAT!!! It's so yummy, too! :D:D:D Two thumbs up.

    Things I'd recommend:
    Nappies
    W5 dishwasher tablets
    Fairtrade 70% dark choc (yummy!)
    Bread flour
    Cucumbers :-)
bags of Greek feta filled pastry parcels - just feta & feta & spinach

    I'd avoid
    pain au chocolate
    bread

    ALDI
    Things I'd recommend:
    Grandessa jams
    Holly Lane Xmas cakes
pain au chocolate (6 for £1.04)

    I'd avoid:
    breads
    nappies

F&V can be fine in both - just check it like anywhere else :-) Some fab offers on f&v.

Milk can be short dated and go off quickly

  • Got to be Lidl

    Try their

    Curry sauces ( fantastic )
    Fruit Loaf
    Scotch syrup pancakes
    Smoked ham
Apple and Blackcurrant squash ( we get through loads coz of the kids and they love it ! )
Strong Dry Cider ( does exactly what it says on the tin )
    Chocolate bars, 200g.
    Cereal bars
    Mixed bags of sweets

Avoid the spaghetti hoops like the plague, our kids refused them point blank !

Savings to be had at Lidl ! and they've usually got good deals on.

The tinned peach halves in syrup are great... but I cant seem to avoid the impulse buying as the special offers are so good!

    ALDI

Marmalade, at least 4 varieties - all good
    Belgium chocolate biscuits
    Sandwiches are great
    Honey roast ham
    Fresh chicken breasts
    Frozen fish dishes
Jelly beans - top rated by grandchildren!!
    Pesto sauce
Siana moisturising creams, day and night - beat expensive ones in independent tests
    Aloe vera toilet rolls
New range of bloomer bread - nearly always sold out.
    Fruit and veg
Stollen christmas cakes. Took one to Lanzarote last Xmas for my son's German fiance who rated it as the tops.
    Christmas chocolate biscuits

Difficult to know where to stop - I get all my basics there and they are just as good as any of the more expensive supermarkets.
  • Aldi favourites:

    Marmalades, jams and squeezy honey
Organic porridge sachets when in season
    Chocolate raisins
    Cheese straws
    Cloudy lemonade
Almat washing tablets with conditioner - prefer now to Bold
    Dog mixer
    Tinned tomatoes
Large bags of Maris Piper potatoes
    Green grapes
    Butter
    Feta and red leicester cheese
    Apple juice
    Orange juice in the chiller
Home bake ciabatta - best we've found
    Frozen fruits
Frozen continental cakes. Plum one is as good you get in a German home
    Crusty wholemeal loaf
    Frikadellen

Don't like the icky sticky peanut butter and only choose beans if Heinz aren't three for a pound at Farmfoods

    Lidl

Cleaning and household products in the W range.Haven't found a dud one yet
    BBQ ribs in the chiller
    Kilo tub of potato salad
    Chicken and pasta soup
    Orange juice in the chiller
Terrific quality and value on kitchen equipment
    Steak mince
    Frozen bread rolls
    Ground coffee
    Frozen haddock

    Netto

    Warburton's sliced white
    J20's
    Large jars crespo olives
    feta cheese
But always worth keeping an eye on their fliers for wine and tuna promotions
  • Always buy olive oil from Aldi it's half the price of bigger supermarkets and tinned tomatoes are good too only 19p with really thick juice Price @ well known s/market 72p what a rip off. Herbs + spices cheap and fruit + veg is reasonable although it doesn't last very long. Went in s/market opposite my home and Tuna was 3 for 2 but the single price was £1.27 per tin when last week it was 85p. They must think some people are stupid because they do this all the time with different products. You don't get owt for nowt as the saying goes and it's time people caught on.

Newly-converted to Lidl in this neighbourhood so only a few recommendations so far :p

bread flour...makes a far better loaf than any own label I've tried
rashers of bacon...even me muvva wants to go back for these
    sliced fruit loaf...full of fruit

I'm looking forward to trying some of your favourites, considering many of them are for chocolate :D
