I bought the Goodmans recordable dvd player....I paid £159.99 for it...Should I take it back?
I saw these in Tesco and it occured to me that I would much sooner have a Liteon 5005 from Argos at £149 or the updated model Liteon 5006 from various places for about £169. Better still, wait a few days/weeks (who knows?) until Argos and others drop their prices again, as I'm sure they will. I paid only £109 for my Liteon 5005 from Argos in December. Another option is to pay only around £80 for a DVD recorder from Sainsburys from time to time.0 -
I just saw it in Tesco when I was shopping and I couldn't resist it.
I'm not exactly sure what it does lol.
Can it copy cd's? Can it copy a dvd film onto a blank dvd disc?
Sorry if I sound a complete know nothing - :-*All credit cards paid off.

I don't know what the Goodmans deck can do. One of the advantages of the Liteon is that it can record sound on to a CD-R for replaying on your hi-fi or in your car. To copy CDs you're still better off using a computer to get a digital 'clone' but, for sound from the radio or TV, the Liteon may be easier to use.
To copy a DVD film you need to play it on one DVD deck and record with your Goodmans DVD recorder. But you need to defeat the Macrovision anti-copy protection for some DVDs. This is a well-documented procedure for the Liteon but I don't know about the Goodmans deck.

What a great thread this has been. After spending much time reading the posts and carrying out further research I decided to look out for a Panasonic DMR-E55. Best price I could come up with on Pricerunner was £186. Over Christmas I noticed Boots online were selling it at £169.99 but surprise surprise it was out of stock. Went to Boots in Southport today and saw one for £199.99. Thought I would be cheeky and ask whether I could have it at the price shown on Boots online. The guy on the checkout said YES!. Can't believe my luck.0
