The Liteon DVD recorders (5005 or 5006) are popular for the very facility you seek. They can record on all the media you mention, plus CD-Rs as well.
couldn';t work out from the box, and Argos staff couldn't tell me, so hoping someone here knows, do these lite-on machines record to AUDIO cd, or do they just use cd-r's to make video-cd's????
I need a new cd-recorder as mine just packed in.something missing0 -
i too ordered the liteon 5005 from argos and ended up with the 5004 model. i've been onto the liteon website and can't find any mention of the 5004 model. i've emailed liteon to see if they can tell me any more. does anyone know if the 5004 spec is much different to the 5005?0

yep, the 5005 can use CDRs to record either VCDs, SVCDs or audio CD.0 -
Well - I know it was a one-off error, but I bought a Matsui progressive scan DVD recorder from Dixons on Christmas Eve. This was reduced from £238 to £119 and so I bought it as an Xmas pressie for my son's fiance. And guess what it went through the till at........

ref the liteon. no one has yet mentioned how easy/difficult it is to set up. we've got the liteon now from argos and are having trouble setting it up. is there anyone out there who can explain in english what cable goes where (we have a tv, skybox, liteon dvd recorder and vcr). it's like spaghetti junction behind our tv cabinet. we're also having trouble understanding the menu setup on the liteon. is there someone who's already set theirs up that can help us?0

I actually had the same problem dog_pegleg with TV, Freeview box and the Liteon. Took the freeview out of the equation and got it set up no problem, only problem is I have never got round to putting the Freeview back into the equation
What I can say is once I got it set up it is easy to use so hopefully someone will come along and tell us how its done.0 -
I am intending to get a JVC DR-M10 in the sales, but so far haven't found it any cheaper than it's per Christmas price of £182.68 plus £9.99 delivery.
Can anyone better this?

I think we all face the problem of having too many boxes. I feed the aerial wire directly into my Freeview box to help get the highest quality reception. Then a scart lead goes from the Freeview box to 'scart in' on the Liteon 5005. Another scart lead goes from Liteon 'scart out' to the TV. That's all you need to do. I prefer to move cables around to suit my need, rather than have a daisy chain arrangement or use special selector boxes for multiple scart leads. Don't use the Liteon 5005's onboard tuner, as it only has mono sound!0 -
Hi,
I have read all the threads on this topic and have a feeling I did not have my money saving head on yesterday at Tesco.
I bought the Goodmans recordable dvd player mentioned above.
I paid £159.99 for it
Should I take it back?
Anyone got 1 of these?
Is it any good? All credit cards paid off.
