I applied for the Amazon MasterCard on Saturday, but never received a confirmation email which I thought was odd.

Now they appear to have removed any mention of the card from their site, and when you access the old page it says "Sorry, we're currently not accepting new applications for the Amazon MasterCard. Please visit Amazon Money Store to view a wide range of alternative credit cards."

The '24hr' Amazon MasterCard support closes at 5pm, so I was unable to phone them after work. I'm guessing I'm not getting a card then? Even though the application appeared to go through fine on Sat.

Thank you for your interest in Amazon.co.uk Credit products. This page is currently being updated. We appreciate your patience. Please return later to apply for your Amazon Credit product. Thank you.
If I were a betting man (I'm not), I'd think they were 'enhancing' i.e. reducing the cashback rate.

I'd agree with you. They have a habit of issuing 'new' cards with differing cashback rates, and this will doubtless be another one.

anyone know why the M&S card is featured on the guide but not the waitrose partnership card? from what I can see they both pay out the same. Is the m&s one better in some way?

Just returned from a week working in Madrid and my MBN4 Pl4y.com card is no longer going to be good for points from November.

At the moment my thinking is a Tesco Visa card as that is where I do all my shopping although I do have the old Tesco Clubcard Plus so I normally put aside money a month and shop from there but occasionally (like Sunday in Spain, had to order my groceries for delivery)

Thankfully it is still in Martin's list of decent cards, but does anyone here use it? I normally use my Play card for meals out etc and anywhere where my Amex Plat cash back card isn't accepted.

Can someone recommend me the best cashback credit card at the moment that also has no fees on purchases abroad?

    Thanks in advance.

    That isn't true DesG.

The Capital One Classic Extra gives you 0.5% cashback on all UK transactions (as well as a £10 annual bonus for paying on time). It also gives fee-free foreign currency transactions (but you do not get cashback on these, and there are hefty penalties for withdrawing cash).

Then the old favourite Halifax reward clarity gives £5 every month you spend £300 (which at exactly £300 spend is the equivalent of 1.66% cashback), and has fee-free foreign transactions and cash withdrawals (although you are charged interest from the day of withdrawal).

    Hope that helps phillai

Nath4n, thanks for suggesting the Halifax reward clarity. Probably will apply for this one.
I noticed it has a much lower APR not that it would matter to me as I intend to pay on time anyway.

Is this the best one that aint AMEX?
