anyone having trouble getting this card?
twice now I've applied and received the wrong card - actually got the platinum card which doesn't give cashback.
when I spoke to customer service the second time, was informed my application had been declined (presumably because I have good credit score, employed and homeowner) so, without consulting me, they sent me the alternative card which I did not want.
very frustrating and annoying as not only was I waiting to use this card for xmas present purchases (now three weeks away eekk), but I now have an extra checks done on my credit score.
can anyone recommend an alternative CB card?0 -

There's not much choice on cash back cards right now apart from the Amex cashback cards and the new Lloyds American Express/MasterCard choice rewards card (Works out at 1.25% on cash and 1.5% on vouchers).0 -

Yes correct - it was available and now it's not.
That's what happens if you open your email 19 days late.

My credit history is (was) virtually non existent, so I applied for a capital one cashback card last year and was approved. Their online system is very easy and pleasant to use, I've set it up to deduct the full amount as a direct debit. Their paper bill gives you a month to pay (which I found confusing as to me it makes more sense to give people 10-14 days to pay).
I've got into the habit of checking my account every week (some payments don't show up automatically on the same day) and using my debit card to pay anything off immediately. It's a two step process (pay with ccard first, then pay ccard off with debit card) but it works.
What wasn't immediately obvious to me was the credit limit (in my case £200) - this resets whenever you pay your balance in full. I'm still not sure if the low credit limit is enough for car rental yet, but hopefully this'll prove itself when I try Avis next month.0 -
Looks like CapitalOne have a new cashback card http://www.capitalone.co.uk/creditcards/aspire-business-credit-card.jsf
Although it says targeted at business users, nothing to stop none business owners applying. 5% cashback for first 99 days (max £100) then tiered up to 1.25% thereafter0 -

Well, following the advice above, I just applied and was approved!
No annual fee
Up to 56 days interest free credit
Credit limit up to £ 7,500
Im lucky as I do have expenses so I entered all my work details and hey presto.
I'm still depressed after Aqua withdrew their 3% card. So this is just fine.
I wont touch Amex since so many retailers wont touch Amex either!
:mad:Spent 2 months entering comps and so far ... squat. :mad:0 -
Amex is accepted in more places than some people think.
I've just had a letter today that Barclaycard are withdrawing their 'World' Mastercard, which was given to former Egg customers and has various insurance benefits and 1% cashback.
They're replacing it with a dual Amex & Visa scheme with 1% on the Amex card and 0.5% on the Visa.
As I've a Amex card already with 1.25% cashback and only used the Mastercard in the few places that don't accept Amex, this is a significant downgrade.
The quest to find a replacement has begun!0 -

Same boat here. Don't like having Amex only in my wallet.0
