Beware of the AMEX cashback card - The terms and conditions have changed.
    Thanks.

Is this the card issued by American Express themselves? I have the AmEx cashback card from MBNA where AFAIK there is no such restriction.

IMO, it's a better bet (1.5% cashback on most supermarkets and petrol/diesel, 0.75% on everything else), though this of course depends on how you use the card.

Yes - it is the card Amex themselves issue, and it's not remotely as good as the MBNA version in terms of cashback.

The Capital One cashback card gives you 1% on everything though.
  • Do you have to make a minimum payment even if you dont use your MBNA Amex credit card for a month?? Help would be most appriciated. Thanks

Yes is the short answer, if you've a balance outstanding.

Althought for new applicants there's a £30 annual fee.

You don't want to be using this card if you're planning on only making min repayments. It's only suitable for those who pay off in full every month.

Has anyone been able to get both MBNA Amex and MBNA Visa cashback cards? I have the AMEX but would like to get the Visa one too so I can use it in places thay don't take AMEX. But I know that usually a card provider won't let you have more than 1 card with them. What if I offered to split my current credit limit across two cards?

My experience with MBNA has been that they're quite happy to give you more than one card. They do tend to want to split the total credit limit between the cards, which is reasonable enough.

Yep, that's exactly what happened with me. I was able to get both card by splitting my limit with the Amex over the two cards.

hi u just tried signing up for mbna visa credit cashback card. 1.75 back on supermarket/petrol / 0.5 % on everythinjg else having decided i wanted a non amex solution. ref http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/redir/fcf13e6e

i am 28 home owner no mortgage , banked with existing bank over 13 years and i was declined.
i got my friend to sign up who is same age , non home owner but tenanting, banked over 10 years with existing bank and also declined.
i came from morgan stanley cashback card who got took over by barclaycard cashback and now barclaycard freedom which offers poor cashback i have always paid bill in full over 5 years..

we both got a PDF saying theve declined us over our credit rating specifically.

it seems they are just declining peoplle who are likely to pay the bills on time to utlilise thier APR .so no one can get the cashback rate theyve advertised?
