Hello??
Everyone having an early night??
I'm just catching up on todays thread before going off to the land off to bed to watch E'enders n zzzz
DDad bought and fitted dishwasher today
he also cleaned the kids shoes and wiped down all the windows and wood round the front of house ... BLESS HIM!! He was rewarded with HM cottage pie and veg and then ice cream and chocolate pancakes which he thoroughly enjoyed as DMum doesn't do OS cooking ever really. He then proceeded to load new dishwasher too. What a super star.
(((HUGS))) to those who want/need them.

Hi guys,
I am feeling really shattered today but that will soon improve as I have the next 2 weeks off!!:j :j  :T :T The master plan is to re-carpet all of the bedrooms - bought and paid for yesterday    and to strip out my bedroom and totally re-decorate it, I really do need to get back in there to sleep. The settee is so uncomfortable I feel like an old dear when I get up in the mornings. So hopefully a makeover and a change around and the room will feel a bit better, if not a colleague at work did suggest moving the boys in to our room and turning theirs in to my bedroom so I have an option if I still can't settle in there.
I have had a little nudge from somewhere?!! as to my travel arrangements last week. The routine has been up at 5.45 to get us all ready for out by 6.45 and then 2 buses and a hike to work - not a prospect I was looking forward to in the months to come! but I was a little late for 2 days and reluctantly opted for taxis. The first day was £9 and the second day I opted for the local firm who charged £5 :T :T :T Next month when DS2 turns 4 the bus fares will be £4.85 and for the extra 15p a day without the hassle and time waiting in cold and wet bus stops I have booked him on a permanent basis to get us to nursery and then me on to work. A bargain as far as I am concened and I get an extra half hour in bed.
I still have to i**on their uniforms and do their lunchbags and then off to sleep.
Meanmarie - You and DH are both in my prayers, take care of yourself too.
Betheebee - What a rotten day you had at the begining of this week, you are both also in my prayers. Look after yourself hun.
Anniestar - I miss your posts too, look forward to hearing from you.
Scuzz - I hope your nan is OK.
Gentle hugs to all else in need.

Well done, this soon becomes addictive, and you will soon be an old hand at it. With the ever-rising cost of food it will save you oodles of dosh in the long run. I have almost finished my Grocery Challenge for September and I put £50.00 in a separate purse for just food and nothing else and I still have got over £6.00 left. I live alone, so there is only me to cater for ,but I didn't realise how much food I actually had in my store cupboards and freezer. I have gone for almost four weeks just buying fresh milk, veg and wholemeal bread, and for the rest of the time just 'shopped' from my stocks.:j I still have lots of stuff to get me through October so I shall do the same for that month as well. I had saved so much that I had enough to splash out on a 'Cuttlebug' machine which is a die-cutting and embossing machine that I will use for my craftwork
I make cards for charity and my family and had wanted one of these machines for awhile.
I always have a little bit of a 'happy cash stash ' put by to treat myself to something with ,but this month I had quite a bit more than usual.
if you put what you think you have saved to one side it soon mounts up and maybe you can treat yourself or your family to a nice surprise.
Anyway good luck and welldone for having a go ,it really isn't rocket science and there are lots of folk on here who will help if you get stuck. We have all been there, so no query is a daft one
Cheers JackieO :beer:0 -
Well done!
Once you have those bits in stock it's even easier to keep going too, and you'll be able to add herbs/spices to tinned tomatoes or passata instead of the pasta sauce.
Have you tried looking at different cookbooks for ideas- you can get lots from the library, and you can get inspiration without complicated recipes and tecniques.
Good Luck!

Well done! :T
I too have recently started meal planning and cooking from scratch and was amazed to find I could actually cook something that I would have previously bought "ready made" and found it to be cheaper and tastier.:o
I also felt with a three year old it would be better for him, one; to see Mummy actually "cooking" and he can help and two; healthier all round.
It's the reason I'm on here so early today as I need to get to Mr T's but need some inspiration for a couple of meals
I my weekly shop is around £40 but my freezer is well stocked and I waste far less these days :T
