I read your post and nearly choked on my cup of tea - the comments about OH swiftly followed by "friend has killed the pig!" definately raised my eyebrows!!!!!!
Need to go and get DD(14) new pjs as she is going to a sleepover tomorrow- she can't tell me exactly what she wants but they must not be silky, babyish or frumpy!!!!!! They need to be "teenagery!" I pointed out that could be anything from a childish 13 to a sophisticated 19 and got "the look!"
She already thinks I am a "saddo" for making HM elderberry syrup yesterday.
New glasses are ordered so in a week or so I should be able to see properly - have been convinced the phone book was using smaller print.

If the person has time to knit then she has time to help you with the lifting and carrying etc!!!!! Will not mention what a less tolerant person would tell her to do with the knitting!!!!!
Two loads of washing are ready to peg out on the line and pea soup is in the slow cooker for later today. Might make a loaf in BM later, don't want to do it while I am out as if I am late no one will think to remove it when it beeps!
Hugs to everybody and see you later."This site is addictive!"

Morning everyone!
Well my Tescos order arrived last night. Now because every time my OH has been to Tescos, the Hovis bread mixes had always sold out, and even in the last online order they didn't arrive (and they seem to be 75p everywhere else) I rashly ordered 6 granary and 4 white hovis mixes being sure that like the last time they would be out of stock but they all arrived!!! So now I feel a bit guilty for ordering so many but also incredibly chuffed as I now have plenty of mixes at only 27p each. Course, I now have to find somewhere to store them...
My day started too early again but I had a couple of cards to make so did that rather than come online but now I am yawning like mad and wishing I could go back to bed!
Marie - hugs to you and your OH
Melika - Good luck with your course.
Poppy - hope your OH arrives safely and you have a lovely time!
Chocorange - Keep posting, as mummysaver said - the more the merrier!
I hope everyone has a good day.
*hugs* to everyone who needs them and congratulations to those who are celebrating today.

Mummysaver - anyone in the medical profession would slap my wrists hard for this, but when I have a really streaming cold then I take an antihistimine, like piriton, or any hayfever remedy. It is so embarrassing when I have a bad cold, my nose just runs and runs and runs. I have got through big boxes of tissues in hours
and usually resort to toilet roll, a cheap own brand basics loo roll will usually manage to last a day, but a fancy roll can last a bit longer. Proper hankies, which I think are so much nicer, become repulsively soggy far too quickly. I usually end up with a raging thirst, but at least it is liquid in and not liquid out.
And I don't look quite so much like a cartoon.
Hugs to all. I am sitting here feeling very slothful. However I have already started on throwing out all the manuals to appliances we no longer own. As I cannot seem to get on to Freecycleand I am not sure that dear heart would approve of a stranger knocking on our door, and the local charity shops can not take anything electrical, then I may well be throwing away some appliances as well. To be fair, I think some of the appliances are so elderly and ricketty that the dustbin is the only place for them.
Tonight I am making a veggie tomato type thingy like ratatouille, with gently fried onions, peppers and kidney beans with a tin of undiluted condensed tomato soup added (getting rid of the rubbish) and baked potatoes in the Remoska.
Now I am going to go and systematically rummage through the kitchen cupboards and throw out just as much as I can.
I have seen a house I would really like to live in, in a much more rural area with a big garden and only a semi detached instead of the terraced urban street we live in. Of course we couldn't possibly afford to move now, and we need to sort so much stuff out... But it is such an incentive to sort things out for when we can move.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

sybil - thanks very much for the idea, I'm sure it can't be too bad for you to take antihistamine when you don't really need it. I can remember the HV telling me to give ds antihistamines when we went on long journeys when he was a babe, as it would help him sleep!!! I'd never thought about doing it to dry up my nose (sorry if that's tmi for you all!), but what a fab idea for when there's no day nurse in the house, like right now! They must put something similar in day nurse cos that always stops my nose trickling?
Sounds like you're becoming a dab hand with your moski now, I use campbells soups sometimes as the basis for stuff, their mushroom one makes a fab curry, and the chicken one stirred through pasta and chicken is one of dd3's favourite meals, she used to come home from my neighbour's raving about this special dish and my lovely neighbour said she was really embarassed to admit that it was just soup when I asked her for the recipe lol!
Elona - my kids are just used to me making stuff now, and I think most of their friends are quietly impressed judging by the fact that dd1 and ds now seem to have a lot more money than usual and my baking seems to be disappearing to school with them in vast quantities! dd1's friends have requested my homemade pizza and proper cakes for the party tea tonight - bless em! Just as well cos that's what they'll be getting anyway - kitchen is full of hobnobs, done some ginger ones too, h-u-g-e choc chip and raisin muffins, choc sponge cake cooling so I can ice it, and pizza dough rising! oh is working from home and got a slap when he tried to grab a tray of hobnobs lol!
Diva - the granary mix is really nice, still wouldn't buy it at full price, but it makes a great loaf and really nice rolls to go with soup.
Candygirl - don't like the sound of the unqualified assistants being used so much, in emergencies or for a few mins is one thing, bet they aren't too thrilled either. I'm sure with the bugs that seem to be doing the rounds at the mo that some of the teachers will go off sick soon - not wishing anyone to be ill, but it'd be good for you ifyswim!
Kettle boiled now, so cuppa time again and then best have a quick tidy - going to find my hayfever tabs now as well, thanks again Sybil xGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Oh gosh Sybil, yes I know, I ADORE the granary one and at 27p it's really cheap in my opinion though I wouldn't pay 75p for it either. No idea how Tescos can sell it so cheaply compared with everywhere else.
Haven't tried making rolls with it yet, my OH just pops it in the Breadmaker before he goes to work and we have a lovely crusty granary loaf waiting for us at lunchtime!

DD is quite happy to eat home made soups, burgers, pizza, cake and is quite proud to be taking a home made bread roll to school - it just seems to be the idea of herbal concoctions that is a step too far for her.
Need to go to York to look for pjs now!!! Got to dash!"This site is addictive!"
