  • Just popping in to say hello and I hope everyone is having a good day. I have never tried making my own bread but I think it is something I might try now I have been reading all these threads.

Diva - just put the stuff in the bm as usual and put it on the dough setting, I use the pizza setting on my panny and that works well.

Sassy - hi there! Making your own bread is easy, especially in a BM, worth looking on your local freecycle or requesting one, you just need to have the patience to let it have a couple of risings to make it light. The breadmixes in Tesco are the Hovis ones, and they were still cheap when I left work this morning, they're certainly worth trying. Using bread flour and yeast is pretty simple too though.

Elona - have a look in La Senza if they have a sale, or Primark in the ladies section, both do jammies that dd1 and dd2 are happy to be seen at sleepovers in!

Shame I don't know anyone who lives in York, I'd have liked them to keep a look out for a woman wearing a pointy black hat and carrying a cauldron, lol! I was thinking of making rosehip syrup, will def give it a go now just to see the kids reactions!

    Afternoon all.

Firstly, ((((Hugs)))) for all who are poorly/got poorly loved ones/otherwise upset or worried. There seem to be so many got problems of various sorts just now.:(

Still coughing and spluttering here, but I think it must be getting a bit better, as I can make a hanky last a whole hour now.:o And I managed a little light housework without collapsing in a wrecked heap afterwards, so that's a good sign.:p

I was thinking of doing nut loaf with rice and sweet'n'sour sauce for dins. We haven't had that for a while, and the sauce recipe has ginger in it, which might be beneficial for dealing with the lurgy.

Probably won't get online tomorrow, as I have hospital appointment - pain clinic. Mr LW has the day off to take me, so hopefully it won't be too traumatic. (I have a real fear of doctors and hospitals, shame I have to attend so often!)

Hope everyone's having a good day.

  • I really need to buck up and get on with working through the kitchen. I have been extremely slothful.

Little bear seems to be heading for another nap. He has had such a rotten cold, so he may be sleeping himself better. That is, after half a tin of cream of mushroom and chicken soup, nearly most of two slices of very buttery toast, a milky bar and lashings of squash (and some of mum's oatcake when I wasn't looking!)

He seems determined to get back to nature. Once again after I picked him up from his nap he was down to his nappy. At least the nappy was on! I do think he looks gorgeous - but cold!

For those who have to give bloods on a regular basis, my grandfather used to refer to them as the Daughters of Dracula. I hope that can raise a faint smile as I loathe having blood taken.

I don't know whether I will be back as Sainsbury's will be delivering in fifteen minutes and I want to try and get the bread maker working again and I really need to sort out the kitchen and, well, the new pushchair has been delivered and I'm going to try and get it put together. If it works I am aiming to go into the city centre tomorrow with little bear. The thought of it fills me with apprehension, but I will go for it if I possibly can, and I will let you all know how I get on.

There, I've written it down, now I have to do it - but it is such an intimidating prospect for me. Thank you for all the support I have had from here.

  • Just got back from Bognor, was about to do a "proper" post, but oldest DD has just phoned to ask for a lift as she doesn't feel great (she has bad tummy ache this month :( )

But I AM SO HAPPY :):):) Redruby, thank you for the tip - I have got each of the 2 new designs of Cath Kidston bags :):):) And yes, what a lovely idea - when you feel better & I am not rushing to get there & back in 3 hours, I'll come for a cuppa (and a twink???)

Anyway, must dash for now, then off to be a good governor and go to the school's open evening for prospective parents. In view of recent developments there it could be quite interesting......

And am supposed to be typing today's batch of letters for the office, not quite sure when I'm going to fit them in... Maybe tomorrow morning!!!

    Afternoon everyone,

Well I don't know how well my gd got on yesterday as I've not heard from me muvva! I sent her a text and got one back saying she was at wrk but I must pop in on my way past as I go home tonight and catch up - hopefully she'll have some goodies for me and the boys ;)

Hugs to everyone who needs them for whatever reason - even if you don;t have a reason have a hug anyway.

DS1 (15) got sent home from school Tuesday lunchtime with temperature, feeling sick and full of cold. I'm now trying to get him back to school and all he is telling me is the school don't like the students to go to school if they are ill. Ok if they've got measles/tonsilitus etc but the everyday common cold? I despair sometimes how is he going to learn that when you are at work you have to go with a small sniffle? So anyway I emailed the school office this morning requesting confirmation of their abscence from school due to illness policy and as yet am still awaiting a response from them. I'm of the mind that if his temperature has returned to normal tomorrow he can darn well go to school! He admitted to me at lunchtime today that he is incredibly bored, funny how it all changed when I suggested the washing up and hoovering needed

Well thats it for now as I'm at work so shouldn't really be on here but I'm just not motivated enough to do anything else :D

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning
