UPDATE: A year and a half later, I have just ordered two 35ltr cylinders from Sodastreams 'remaining' stock (0845 601 0093). There's nowhere that you can take the old ones (according to the nice lady on the phone) so all in all, with the postage and refund, each one costs me £8. I make that 23p per litre.
Apparently there's 1000 cylinders left and 'once they're gone, they're gone'.
Might try the 'find a friendly fire extinguisher refiller' method at some point.
