Right they still aren't answering their phone and companies house say they are in liquidation.

    I also found this
    http://www.sodastreamfresh.co.uk/stock-it.asp

    Pertinent bit
We've even hatched a plan for a "drinks maker" amnesty to drive consumers into store with their old models, ready to renew their SodaStream relationship.
I rang the media enquires number and was given another number as they said they had nothing to do with sodastream anymore.
I got through to a very abrupt and unhelpful man who said they were working through the call backs and refused point blank to say when I could expect to receive one.
He also claimed that they aren't in liquidation that the address of the company in liquidation is Cygnet Drive and that they moved from their a couple of months ago. ?????:confused::confused::mad:
    That doesn't even make sense!

When asked how we can be sure the company won't do this again in a years time. And change the cylinders again
    I was told you can't.
He said he couldn't give any such assurances, he said how do I know I might not even work for them then.

Sounds well dodgy to me! It seems like hes worried about his job and is a disgruntled (sp?) employee. Perhaps they are in liquidation but he can't say.

WOW people still use Sodastreams, get busy with the fizzy :D
Yes! I'm disabled and can't get to the shops easily or carry heavy bottles, so having cylinders delivered to my house is convenient, also I only drink fizzy water, not lemonade/cola etc.;)

My thanks to the OP for the heads-up on this. I have duly emailed them and will see what transpires. *Settles down for a very long wait*

Interesting thread. I hope all of you who bought Sodastreams recently get a fair outcome.

I bought a new style Soda Stream from Lakeland last month. I had been aware of the problems beforehand because I had fancied a Penguin model and wondered why they disappeared from sale so I had googled for information.

I only bought mine in the event because it was on sale at Lakeland and so subject to their No Quibble guarantee if anything should go wrong.

Just as an aside, I got a spare refill from Lakeland and while the new cannister that came with the machine has the new green and white design featured on the website, the refill comes in an old 'Alco2jet' cannister with the blue and orange design. When it first arrived I was worried it wouldn't fit my new machine but it does, so it looks like the refill cannisters are still 'alco2jet' but have been re-fitted with the new type thread attachments.

It is all very confusing though.

Originally I desperately wanted the Penguin with the glass carafes, but now I have the Jet machine I'm quite happy and glad to have the lighter plastic bottles.

Oh Lordie! :( My model is 16 hundred & frozen to death years old, but I keep it to use in the main, for times when people have an upset tum.
Admittedly it's been a fair while since I bought a refill--rarer than hen's teeth even then  --so I guess my only option now is to buy a whole new unit :o

Admittedly I've often thought it would be an advantage to have something that produced more than 300ml at a time, but finances are hardly in a position to buy yet another replacement for an ailing kitchen gadget.

Big mumma did you read the first post properly ;):D
    What model do you have?
    What cylinders are you using?
If they are the old fashioned ones (70's style) then you can still get them. This affects people who have the more up to date models.
    People who use alco²jet cylinders.
Have a check and post back because if you have a dinosaur model you may be sitting pretty. :) For the moment at least.

Annoying fact: I only got my Fountain Jet which uses the Alco2Jet cylinders because my "dinosaur" model finally turned up its toes.

I have a Soda Stream 101  & can't see any readily noticable codes on the cylinder.

I guess I'll have to look on their web site to see if I could still get refills :o

Does the cylinder have alco²jet written on it in big letters? If not it is probably an old 35litre one.
It is the modern alco²jets that are discontinued.
Where do you get your refills if it is from Robert Dyas? If so then you almost certainly have an old old old one that is using the original 35litre cylinders.
If so DO NOT upgrade. Your model is still supported. It is the modern ones that are not.

I've been having an interesting discussion with Sodastream, via email.

Basically, I'm refusing to be forced to pay out to "upgrade" my (perfectly functional) machine, I'll just drink tapwater!

They are now saying they won't refund my deposit for cylinders (I have been using their postal service for replacement cylinders) until I order replacement cylinders. And they don't supply the cylinders I need anymore.....

    Circular argument? Or what?
