Im really confused?
Excuse me if I'm being particuarly slow here!
I have the 'cool' model of sodastream that I purchased about 2 yrs ago, it has the obsolete yellow 5 thread connector for taking the gas cylinders that have been discontinued by Sodastream over here and I need a refill.
Am I understanding some of the posts correctly in that the alco2jet cylinders that fix into the 5 thread yellow connection are still available and being used in Germany?
If this is the case, can we not keep ordering this type of refill from Germany (assuming cost is not prohibitive) and keep our 'old' machines going; or have I been seriously missing something here?0 -
I ws considering buying sodstream machine. After reading all this, even with the resolution at the end, I'm not going to now. No way that I'd want to buy a product where the manufacturer can just make them obsolete if they want to.
The basic sodastream patents must have expired by now. You'd think that someone would have made a machine that doesn't require all this fiddly exchange of cylinders, where the cylider can just be refilled.
Unless you can find another source of Fizzy Milk, Sodastream's the only answer I'm afraid.Out on blue six..

Not to throw a wrench in the works, but SodaStream can cancel your warranty for carbonating anything other than water in their gadget. There's no effective way to clean the drop tube that dips down into the liquid in your bottle when carbonating. Bacteria can propogate as the foodstuffs that adhere to it spoil.
If you wanna carbonate milk, get yourself a FizzGiz at fizzgiz.com. The FizzGiz unit does not come into contact with the liquid you are carbonating. So you can carbonate anything - milk, juice, homemade conconctions or drinks you bought that have gone flat.
Maybe Emoo is available in your area, if all U R seeking is carbonated milk. I can understand the desire to roll your own, in case that's what you're seeking.0 -
I find it difficult to understand why so many people have problems with SodaStream co2 refills & customer service. These posts are all 2-yrs old. Has SodaStream finally done the right thing? Did they ever take care of these consumers?
Curious.

I'd assumed that Sodastream had dissapeared and probably gone bust when they disappeared from our local Robert Dyas which seemed to be the last place selling them. Fizzy water was down to around 10p for 2 litres at our local Sainsburys earlier this year (although now up to 18p) so it makes little sense to use a Sodastream these days.

Looks like gxxfxxx want to get a bit higher on google!!
I lurve my Sodastream, I upgraded and now get the gas from Lakeland for about £8 a bottle plus postage so I get 3 or 4 at a time and just sent loads back together. Was cheaper than Sodastream.0 -

It's much better not to have to haul it all home though. I love my sodastream, I bought mine from Lakeland with my birthday money and we never run out of fizzy water nowOfficial DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
I have just made a SodaStream purchase from Lakeland, also with birthday money! I spend so much on fizzy water and I am sure it can't be good for the environment (even though I recycle my empties). There is a gas cylinder supplied with the SodaStream; do I just return it to Lakeland (via post) when empty then purchase a new one from them?0

I too noticed these posts were all old, but we seem to have renewed interest. My v old machine is giving up the ghost. Contacted Sodastream by email in August. Had 2 exchanges with them offering me a £15 replacement "for a valued customer". I had to ring their customer care number to complete the deal. since then I cannot get any reply from that numer -ever. Have emailed them twice (last time this pm) am now wary of dealings with them. Has anyone managed to complete the £15 deal with them? I live in central London and have always got gas replacement cylinders from Robert Dyas. Do they still do them for the new models? John Lewis say they run the replacement scheme. Glad to know I'm not alone in my troubles with sodastream. Its nice to have friends during a battle!!:o0
