Right they still aren't answering their phone and companies house say they are in liquidation.

    I also found this
    http://www.sodastreamfresh.co.uk/stock-it.asp

    Pertinent bit

I rang the media enquires number and was given another number as they said they had nothing to do with sodastream anymore.
I got through to a very abrupt and unhelpful man who said they were working through the call backs and refused point blank to say when I could expect to receive one.
He also claimed that they aren't in liquidation that the address of the company in liquidation is Cygnet Drive and that they moved from their a couple of months ago. ?????:confused::confused::mad:
    That doesn't even make sense!

When asked how we can be sure the company won't do this again in a years time. And change the cylinders again
    I was told you can't.
He said he couldn't give any such assurances, he said how do I know I might not even work for them then.

That sounds about right - when I called I got the distinct impression that they had outsourced their customer care number and the people answering the phone were doing so for a number of different companies. They didn't seem to know much about the products or Soda Stream at all, so I think they are probably just answering phones and following the script!

Also, I just noticed that the page you linked to also links to a page featuring the Fountain jet machine, which is the one I've got which they have discontinued!
  • Hi,
I live in Australia and have been having trouble getting sodastream refill bottles. All of the local shops don't have any in stock. I went on to the australian website and thought great, I will order online and have them delivered. That was a few weeks ago now, and the refills have not been delivered. I have emailed - to no reply and the telephone numbers just ring out.
Interesting that you can still buy the new machines though!

I wonder if the Australian lot have gone into receivership too.

  • Hi again.

well I got a repsonse from the Consumer Direct people. Unfortunately they told me I had no legal redress against Soda Stream foir the discontinbutation of the 5 threaded cylinders. They said the best I could hope for was a gesture of good will. Well, we all know Soda Stream are particularly lacking in the good will department, so I didn't persue this further and when they called to tell me the new drinksmakers were in stock and what colour I would like, I let them make me buy one, sorry :(

I have, since then been trying to get some free concentrates out of them, as they were out of stock when I ordered the drinksmaker, but they will not budge, even after two emails, but have said I can have free delivery on them. Great, thanks.

They don't seem to give a monkeys about their customers. If only they had a competitor.
  • Well here is an interesting thing- You get the total system on the German Sodastream website and other European ones with an Alco 60 cylinder for Euros 14.99 about £10.00!!!! Argos £39.95 Ok so post is extra but is this uncompeteitve trading? See below and scan some of the other websites and then lobby sodastream- This is a fiasco! Argos do not tell you about the unavailbility of bottle Out of stock on Sodastream website....... This is a phased withdrawl They know what they are doing - just incompetent at customer service execution

  • Hi Just spoken to Sodastream, today
If you have a machine that is 1 year old (even bought 2nd hand under EEC rule warranty still applies).
    1. All Alco 60 cylinders being phased out so will not fit 'newstyle' gas cartridge which is the same bar the fitting at the top
    2. Could switch SHORT term and use 35 litre canisters but these too are going to be withdrawn

SOLUTION for users who have bought an old style Alco 60 system within the past year :

Sodastream will send "FREE" new style Sodastream that accepts new cylinders If you Buy these at same time £35.98 This gets you NEW Machine and x2 new style pressure cylinders

IF you send send back Old cylinder to an address in Coventry which they send you in this offer ( carefully recycling your defunct old Sodastream at your own displeasure) you will then receive a further £10 refund on your credit card from Sodastream : Takes about 3-4 weeks to process.

The bottom line appears to be that you will now have :

    1. New Sodastream and x2 New cartridges for £25.00 You can choose Blue or graphite Grey

Again this appears to be for models purchased within a year

If you do not send your old Alco60 cylinder back then of course you have paid £35.98 + £4.99 P&P

Lakeland sell new Sodastream at at £39.95 and you get one cylinder

It may NOT be the solution you want to hear but it is the solution Sodastream are offering - It could be that this will occur across Europe.

I do think that Argos and others should simply NOT be selling these old systems and would have expected Sodastream to deal with them too!
  • Sodastream in my opinion as a company has a death wish..Apparently a few years they had a big bust up with "Wilkinsons" which resulted in all their products including gas bottle exchanges being withdrawn from the stores.

I wrote to Sodastream and told them in my opinion they ought to sort it out as to loose such a large chain of stores was not such a good thing for their future..

Guess what, I never even got the courtesy of a reply!!

Im really confused?:confused: Excuse me if I'm being particuarly slow here!

I have the 'cool' model of sodastream that I purchased about 2 yrs ago, it has the obsolete yellow 5 thread connector for taking the gas cylinders that have been discontinued by Sodastream over here and I need a refill.

Am I understanding some of the posts correctly in that the alco2jet cylinders that fix into the 5 thread yellow connection are still available and being used in Germany?

If this is the case, can we not keep ordering this type of refill from Germany (assuming cost is not prohibitive) and keep our 'old' machines going; or have I been seriously missing something here?:o

Just gone looking at the German website - I don't speak German so can only understand a little other than the pictures!:o

What I can see though is that the new type of sodastream comes with 1x alco2jet gas cylinder (assuming it's the 'old' 35L size but who knows?) and one drinks bottle Soda-Club - TAUSCHGERÄT - Jet Color Stream frosty gray OHNE Sprudlerflasche und OHNE Alco2jet-Zylinder it's priced at only 14.99 Euros each / £12.18 on this German website : http://store.sodaclub.de/deretail/category.asp?catalog%5Fname=SodaClub&category%5Fname=Tauschgerat&Page=1
Yet the same models of sodastream are priced at £49.99 over here!   http://www.lakeland.co.uk/F/keyword/sodastream+gas+cylinder+refill/product/12520_12521
Comes with the 60L cannister and 2 bottles but still hideously more expensive even when this is taken into account! RIP OFF BRITAIN AGAIN IT WOULD SEEM!!

Haven't managed to find out if / where they sell the alco2jet gas cannister refills as yet?
