You can have a normal card instead of the Premier credit card but why would you want to do that? there are extra features on the premier card incluing a points reward scheme and also free extra warranty on purchases... You are a premie customer I take it... not to be confused with PLUS?

You can hold your accounts anywhere you chose.. You used to have to deal with the account opening branch butu thats no longer the case. The only difference now is the sort code.. If you opened accounts at various branches, you will have different sort codes.. unless you are a Basic Bank Account holder where in which case it is a central sort code.. or will be very soon.

    Thanks for the reply.

I actually have an Advance account at the moment but keep meaning to upgrade to/open a Premier (not Plus!) one (and open a Regular Saver as well) but I don't want to do so at the branch where I hold my existing current account - not least because I also have some HSBC accounts in the USA which I can't access atm as US online banking websites assume one has a US Social Security number!

Do you know if all these accounts at different UK branches/sort codes can be under the same internet banking login..?

As for normal card vs. Premier credit card - the normal one is more generous in terms of balance transfers and I guess I could also change to the other one afterwards if wanted.

However, I used to get points in a HSBC reward scheme for a old 'normal' credit card I had before they withdraw that scheme - though the awards were never that good.

Its a real shame that HSBC doesn't offer any cashback credit cards in the UK - like they do in the USA (for both 'normal' and 'premier' customers)

    Regards
    Sunil
  • I got one of these letter they moved me to a Current Acount advance. You still have your overdraft but since November when I look at my overdraft details online its keeps saying that my overdraft is expiring. But, I have not received any letters, emails, phone calls, etc. I ring them up all all they can say is that nothing is gonna happen until I get a letter. This is no good to me since I use £1100 of my £1500 overdraft, its very worrying. I was going to transfer and open a premier account with A&L but I need some advise. Is that just shotting myself in the foot and getting more into debt?

If I go for paperless statements do I have to do it on all my accounts? Can I still get a print out from the branch if I need one?

Thanks I think I will move all my accounts online except the current account.
  • If I go green, can I still use my existing chequebook? I probably only write a few a year but I wouldn't want to take the risk just incase I needed one. I've been meaning to ask the cashiers at work but never got round to it.
Trying to only spend money when I absolutely have to.
Barclaycard: £4559-1500 = £3059 (Will have £900 to add to that end of September)
    Loan from Friend = £2000

Yes, you can. I do so myself with no problems.
