HSBC Changing all Bank accounts

I have checked all 4 of my accounts again. What I have done is to set up a new payment for the 26th of January and informed internet banking to ignore my last email. As it does not exist on my accounts there is no point searching for it.
I was wondering could it have been set up as a 2008 payment by mistake?
If it was set up as a 26 December 2008 payment then the money would have gone from your account immediately..
Last time I used 'pending payments' I noticed their was a slight delay before my pending payment appeared - it used to appear almost instantly.. - in fact I thought I had forgotten to confirm the payment, so entered it again.. only for the HSBC online banking system to identify it as identical to another payment already set up and asking me if I really wanted to do it twice..
The HSBC online system seems quite good in spotting errors like that and/or checking the sort code/account number you enter is a valid one when making a payment..

I have now cancelled the pending payment and just paid today it seems a lot easier. The money has left my account and it is showing up as pending. When I go to make a payment it says there are no pending payments. Is it because the money may have left my account but it has not gone into the system?
Am I right in assuming that if a payment does not show on onscreen then it does not exist?0 -
Thank you folks. I will check nearer the time to make sure everything is alright. I have been advised by someone that I have to set up a pending order for them hopefully this time everything is going to run smoothly.0

I've just opened an Online Bonus Saver as I've realised that even if I make a withdrawal in a month and thus lose the 'monthly bonus', I will still get a lot more interest than leaving it in a Flexible Saver account..
Have to say I was impressed that the account was ready to use immediately - it used to take HSBC a couple of days for the account to appear online.
Just one question though - if I ask for my monthly interest on this account to be automatically paid to my current account by HSBC, is this classed as a withdrawal (thus causing me to lose 'the bonus')? I wouldn't have thought so, but just wanted to check..
Also, while I am asking questions.. if one has a Premier account (I don't!):
a) can you apply for the normal credit card and not the Premier credit card?
b) can you choose to hold the account at a different branch/sort code than your existing HSBC accounts?
Thanks

I think you can divert the interest from your OBS just send a secure e-message to ask them.
I think Premier customers can only apply for Premier C/C but call and ask.
Whenever you open any new account you can choose any branch sortcode you like or even a sortcode not linked to a branch (National Sortcode). But usually I think if you already had a current account it would just be converted to Premier A/C0 -
I put the most of my money in the savings accounts including the online bonus saver but I do have the current account plus money for 1 month in the flexible saver as I don't want to lose the interest on the online bonus saver or touch any of my other savings accounts.0

I always make sure that I have enough funds in my current account for anything and I do a rough calculation at the beginning of the month to see how much I have and how much I am going to need.
I am one of those people who is careful with money and as I have stated I put the money which I don't need for the forseeable future into savings accounts.0 -

I have a spreadsheet which does much the same thing. Worked well for me, because in the time I've had my current bank account I have never once gone over my overdraft limit. I know exactly what's coming in and exactly what's going out. Very easy to set up if you're inclined to take half an hour or so playing with a spreadsheet package (I use Apple Numbers).0 -
I don't have that many things coming in and going out so it is eaiser for me to do it in my head.0

I was asleep by 12 anyway.
I just saw that a payment went out today to another HSBC account. I was paying someone some money. I thought that the banks don't do transfers on public holidays?0
