It only works on some threads and forums. To be fair the new rates are a reflection of the BoE rates rather then the HSBC rates. Banks pay more as they need the money as the money markets have frozen.

I dont know about anywhere else, but I tried to order foreign currency last week for a cusomer and the government were not selling anything... in any currency!!!

    Morning,

I,m sure they will print some for you, if you ask nicely.:D

I don't buy foreign currency directly any more, I use my Nationwide Flex Account Debit Card at ATM's abroad, I always get a better rate.:T

I was not aware there was a shortage of foreign currency.

Or possibly good luck, the customer probably got a better rate than at HSBC, it would be difficult not to.. ;)

I also notice an extra catch with the 8% saver. Although you qualify for the Advance account merely for crediting £500 month from anywhere, the terms of the 8% specifically say you need to pay in your salary or pension. I don't know if, or how, they police that. I would be interested to hear has anyone kept the 8% while crediting other than salary?
Has anyone found out the answer to this yet? Perhaps do they check you have an actual salary going in to your Advance account before they will open the regular saver, or something?

Yes, they check for mandated credits such as salary
What exactly is a "mandated" credit? Is there any way I can arrange to pay one to myself, or is it only something an employer can do?
