I suppose you could have a mandated credit in from another bank account though this would need to continuous throughout the 12 month term of the regular saver.
How would I arrange that, or is it just another name for a standing order?

Also, what about having monthly interest payed in from an external savings account, would that qualify?

I think it is monitored centrally and should the mandated credits stop ... "could" be downgraded from the advance to the standard current account.
Are you sure? There is nothing in the terms of the advance account that says the monthly £500 has to be a special kind of credit, so I assumed anything would qualify for that.

Also, when you say "guaranteed credit" is that a special category of transaction?

I am wondering if when a monthly salary credit is received by a bank does it have a special tag or something, or does it actually not look any different to any other electronic credit, such as the mentioned external interest credits?

I have already been automatically 'upgraded' to Advance, without me applying, and with my account only having been credited with irregular amounts that happened to average over £500 month across 6-12 months or so. However the specific terms of the regular saver are potentially stricter than for the Advance account itself. Given that I would have to apply in person (branch or phone) for the saver, would the person (CSO?) dealing with me actually check further, or are you saying that because I have Advance they will not bother so I am guaranteed to get it?

Bottom line is, I do not want to bother applying for the saver if all I might achieve is a sales pitch, rejection for the saver I wanted, and maybe even risk my Advance being downgraded too.

Today received new debit card which is solo like my current one. Seems pointless as only last week had new terms and conditions from them stating they are changing to Visa Debit in Jan/Feb. My current card expires 01/09 so just wish they waited and sent me a Visa.

    Merry Christmas all
