That is already happening. Personally some should be arrested for supplying false data to the banks.

I would not go to an advisor for a financial product use my own commonsense and go and visit a few of the banks. At least with the bank you know the staff work for the bank.

very true, yes... fpm s are usually commission based and although they hae access to whole of market products, some could be more profitable for them
True, but FPMs have to evidence that they've sold to the customer's real needs which removes the ability to sell the products that give the best commision, but are not necessarily best for the customer.
Trying to only spend money when I absolutely have to.
Barclaycard: £4559-1500 = £3059 (Will have £900 to add to that end of September)
    Loan from Friend = £2000

It would be difficult to prove that there was any dishonesty on the part of the IFA. Anway some of them have supplied false data to the banks and I would not trust them. I also as a matter of principle don't believe paying people for stuff which I could find for a few hours of research.

Hi Guys, i found this thread fantastic and interesting. I have a question. I am currently on HSBC PLUS and are considering selecting `Go Green' to save paper and help the environment - no cheques, statements etc. If I select this option, would this mean I won't get a Cheque Guarantee card once my card date expires or for new customers getting non CG card?

Check guarantee cards from what I understand are been phased out. Anyway there is not much point as a lot of places don't accept them.

Good evening. What is rate of interest on a flexible saver?

So pointless its not worth saying

(but if you really want to know, on the standard flexible saver, its 0.1% AER)

I currently have a student account, with Maestro. Had Maestro since Dec 07. Had the account since early 2005 in one form or another (same a/c number).

I find a cheque guarantee card very handy as our local takeaways don't accept cards and our local shop's ATM charges. Does anyone know if HSBC would consider adding a cheque guarantee facility to my debit card? Even £50 would be OK.

I have £100 facility with Nationwide, but don't always have money in this account as I use it mainly for transactions abroad.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way but have you considered going to a free cash machine? There are still plenty of them around for example your local supermarket.

It seems I would be better off putting my money into a instant access savings account with a far better rate.

I just recently opened up internet savings accounts with Tesco and Sainsbury's. I am not clear can I transfer money to and from them without penalty from Sainsbury's and Tesco's? I have a credit union account but that is not practicle as it does not have ineternet access or the Chelsea (formerly Catholic) savings and Charity Bank ISA.

The rate on the online bonus saver has gone down again.

Back to a poiont which we discussed briefly. Why would anyone go to an IFA or a broker when the information is already in the market? I have more faith in the bank staff at least you know they are tied. I found a story from BBC News http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7521601.stm Do most people come directly or through brokers for HSBC? Is HSBC one of those places where some products are only offered directly?
