From what I recall, you want to know how the changes are calculated.. In my opinion, it is irrelevant to the customer whether these changes are measured on a weekly, monthly calender month or any other time.

That wasn't one of the points I initially had as a question with HSBC. Someone else on here made the comment about it, and I since asked about it to get it clarified.

You talk about transferring money in £10 s to make up the total amount. Fraud would pick this up as unusual activity and investigate accordingly and in that instance it "could be seen" as obtaining products by means of manipulation which would probably, eventually see your account closed by the bank anyway.( they only have to give 30 days notice and a valid reason)

No deception to it. I've told HSBC that I may do that and they said I could. Anyway, I'd not waste my time setting up 50 lots of £10, I'd just simply do a single £500 transfer each month - I've got the funds to make that possible.

Whatever the outcome, the bank still have the right to change your terms and conditions and maybe you need to consider if the bank can meet your needs as a customer and if not, well...

Absoloutely they have the right. I've no problem with HSBC changing the terms and conditions or the offering of the account that they provide. What I do have a problem with is incorrect T&C's being issued and misleading (to use a word that HSBC's staff have used to describe the communication they have sent customers about the changes) information being supplied about the changes. I'm more than happy to allow HSBC to provide the correct information.

HSBC have issued incorrect information, and as I've queried it they've found that it is incorrect and agreed to that. Therefore the T&C's they've issued me in relation to the changes are void. HSBC are now trying to work out what to do next, and I'm happy to allow them to work out what they need to do next - obviously they've made mistakes (several) and they're trying to solve them. It's just a matter of if someone who can make decisions at HSBC is able to pick it up in time before December 1st and actually make some decisions to resolve the issues. I can't answer for your personal thoughts on if the changes are acceptable to yourself or not, that's for you (not you personally, any HSBC customer) to decide based on the information provided. If people haven't bothered to read the info and haven't asked questions then they deserve to get what they're going to be given. I however have read the information and queried it.

Can I also just mention that the purpose of the current account advance is to reward those customers who probably use HSBC as their main account ( the £500 monthly minumum) by offering them premium products such as the regular saver etc.

HSBC has been my main bank account for more than half my life. I had no immediate plans to change that, but after the letter about the changes was received and I started to ask questions and get absoloutely nowhere I set up an account elsewhere and have started to transfer money away from HSBC. I've no problem with leaving HSBC and making my main account somewhere else, and maybe that'll be the eventual outcome that resolves this, but like the rest of you I am/was with HSBC because so far over the years HSBC has provided the services I require, and I'd hope they can continue to do so, although the last couple of months hasn't shown a glimmer of that happening at all. They've just come across as a disorganised mess.

Tried the Mobilink thing and was very disappointed. All it does is tell your last few transactions of your current account. It does not show credit card or savings accounts balances, or let you pay bills, or do anything useful. The existing phone banking services using touch tones are much more powerful, and quicker, so as it stands it seems a pointless gimmick.

Aw I was excited by this! Not that I needed it lol I check my balances 3 times a day or something stupid, even if I don't go out the house! Crazy.

Now just got to wait for my shiny new VISA card, just hoping it comes before my current solo expiry date (09/10 lol)

I was wondering how long before HSBC charges interest on a overdraft?

Should do. I've been privy to a fair bit of info about the new VISA Debit cards, and the rollout starts in earnest next year, starting with Plus and Premier customers. IIRC they won't change your card on demand as there isn't sufficient production capacity to do so, so unless you're one of the aforementioned two groups then you'll have to sit tight.

Also, £250 cheque guarantee cards are being dropped for everyone except Premier customers (which is non-negotiable), and Solos are being replaced by online-only Visa Debits. The bog standard cards are getting a redesign, with MyAccount customers getting a special design of their own. No pictures, but they look purdy, and the HSBC Plus design is to remain the same. :D

Well my card is going to get lost/burnt/snapped at some stage between now and Feb... I have yet to decide when hehe but I will make sure that normal customers get their cards before I do so (I don't want to wait until 2010 :()

    Also online-only? eh?
