I am a bit confused if everything is in your parents name then how did you get gas and electricty direct debits? The credit union was very easy.

BTW I got the answers I needed from the ISA board.

    Wycombe Wanderers.

Yeh it was last year when I went to open my Lloyds account. Luckily at that point I still had a statement.

However I needed proof of address for job interview and all I had was confirmation of direct debits for gas and electric, luckily this was enough, but I couldn't have put my home address as I haven't got any bills, all in parents name.

Just opened an online saver put the bulk of my money into it. I have kept enough to tie me over as I will be getting money on Monday.

Good good. I have 2 houses as I am at uni. My home (High Wycombe) is where my parents live, where everything is set up, bills in their name etc. My uni house (Stafford) is where I pay for gas and electric. When I went for a placement interview they wanted proof of address, which I had nothing for either address, apart from Gas and Electric at uni house in Stafford.

But its a lot easier having stuff went to home address rather than uni because I only live their 9 months, and move each year.
Local enough that I applied for a job at Wycombe branch but didn't get it, got one at another branch of roughly equal distance from where I live.

And davies, my recurring nightmare is that I have to serve someone who can recognise me by what I say on MSE. Christ...

I was actually tempted to get Lokolo on the back of my football shirt (yes I know its sad), and I always wondered if people would say they know me from internet forums. Scary.

cor blimey, be careful with mail addressed to your away address.... I mentioned somewhere earlier i think.. im petrified of identity theft..omg, i get the quivers thinking about it.

    what are you studying?................>>>>>>nosey parker!

I come home every month or so, usually by then I have a few letters from Hargreaves Lansdowne telling me to invest in something crap. And a few other bits and bobs.

I am studying a degree in Computer Games Programming, funny thing is, I am getting bored of the games stuff. I prefer generally programming, so I am going for IBM for my placement hopefully(!). Should be good. Then if I do well I will try and graduate with them. (Graduation is £27k.... woah!). And that the course is nothing to do with money! Just another one of my geeky hobbies :rotfl:

is that 27k debt your going to finish with?? OMFG

If it is..im so glad I never went to uni. nearly went to Hull to study European Law but that was back in errrrrrmmm1994.......... but i met my husband lol now I feel old!

Actually I have just re read the post and i think you might mean starting salary.. doh!

Haha yeh. However first year my student loan is £6555. I have 2 more uni years + placement (placement I take our half loan but just save it). So I will have around £25k debt. But as you can see from my signature I aim to save £15k by then. :)

My ISA problems look as they are sorted as I have been advised to wait for a reply from the provider and if they can't accept me then I go back to HSBC.

I was wondering do many people have problems with identity?

Student is a big thing but thankfully I lived at home.

BTW It was really easy to set up an online bonus saver.

One thing I don't understand why can't one bank accept another's customer easily? As the former bank has done all the checks.

I have come to the conclusion that it is a good idea to be with more than one provider for financial services the reason is that you can have savings with one and another one for day to day and savings.

They used a credit reference agency to check my ID which came back with too few points. So they have requested I send in ID. The chances are very high that I would be eventually approved but it is a good idea to have a plan B. I was informed that the whole thing should take a matter of days to clear up.

Good to see you have saved for Christmas.

What is the interest rate on a flexible saver? I can't work it out from the site.

The reason why I opened the account was that I would rather it was earning interest then sitting there in a current account. I accidently opened 2 but I requested that one of them get's closed immediately.

When I have a reasonable amount of money I will put it in safer investments. My policy is to have something like £2000 in easy acccess excluding ISA's.
