i've already got a letter from hsbc telling me my account is being changed to the advance one... but my meastro card doesnt expire for another year! why is it being replaced!
Probably due to the change to Visa Debit.0 -
Oh, you must be right... if i click activate the help section tells me to enter "the 16 digit number" across the front of my card.... errrr...*counts*.... Maestro cards dont have 16-digit numbers, but Visa cards do!
Anyone else seen this on HSBC internet banking yet?0 -
When am I going to get my Visa debit?0

I got that too! Eagerly awaiting a new flashy card. Although quite annoying as I remember my HSBC card number off by heart hmph.0 -

Is there any pics you could get us (well me) so I can see what new card looks like?0 -

yea, i would like to see what the HSBC plus card looks like.
https://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/hsbcplusbankaccount - picture in the top right. I'd get a pic of mine but my phone camera doesn't seem to like doing it... the Visa Debit one looks the same, but presumably with a Visa logo on it (I've seen a small picture, probably put on an ad by mistake for some reason...)
No idea what the standard card will look like. With any luck the switch to Visa Debit will stop people thinking the "card number" along the bottom of the card is their account number and filling it in as such on paying-in slips... bugbear of all the cashiers0 -
The last 8 digits are the account number.
It goes like this for HSBC cards (I am a geek and I know you know this but I am proud of the fact I know this):
First 4 digits is the type of card.
Next 6 digits are the sort code.
Final 8 digits are the account number.:D
I also know my card info off by heart ha.0
