    cheers.

i don't want to moan but there seems to be a choice of tuna pasta bake, tuna mayo sandwiches or tuna pasta bake. (and a few others...)

i might just have to get a taste for it again!

Feel free to moan. :) I hoped you would find something you'd like amongst the pages of this thread and I'm sorry you don't like the suggestions that others have been kind enough to post here, but if you don't like tuna perhaps you would be better to give it away to someone who does enjoy it or send it to me...my cat loves it! :D;)

    Tuna fishcakes are lovely!

I make them using leftover mashed potato, tuna, chilli and sweetcorn then coat in breadcrumbs. I fry them and they go lovely and crispy on the outside. Nice and simple.

Last time I made them I didn't coat them in breadcrumbs and froze them but when defrosted they were a bit 'soggy' so next time i'll definitely crumb them and maybe try cooking my remaining ones in the oven.

    Thanks!

I'd never seen this thread before and I have 2 tins of tuna in the cupboard that have lurked around for a long time!

Noted down some ideas to use them up in my notepad - why did I never think of fishcakes!

Nice to be reminded about certain things, tuna bake, pie, fishcakes, salads even humble old jackets!

I'd like to make a tuna pate-type thing to put on home made bread to serve at tea time? Any ideas please?
    Thanks.
  • My mum used to make one in her food processor that was pretty good. It was basically, tuna, a bit of grated onion (not too much or overpowers the tuna), salt, pepper, worcester sauce, a splash of cream and softened butter oh and bizarrely a bit of brandy (not sure what it adds so could be left out). Blitz til smooth and put in ramekins, add a pinch of cayenne on top and ut in the fridge to firm up til needed. I'm not sure on the weight of butter though (gauge most things by eye), probably 3oz per tin of tuna would be enough.

I'd mix the tuna with some spring onion, mayo and maybe some soft cheese like Philly. Give it a whizz in the liquidiser and season to taste with pepper and lemon juice. You could always add some peppers, boiled eggs, pretty much anything you fancy.
