We're really picky about the small bits at the bottom of the box and end up storing them up to make the All Bran cake (the cake works just as well with Bran Flakes as it does with All Bran) thing is we are fed up with that cake and are looking for new ideas to use these bitty bits up...anyone?
If I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from

Add to crumble mixes or oaty bicuit type things? Bung them into a stew?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. You could keep all the bits off everything - bread, cereals, cakes, bacon bits etc and use them to feed the birds - mix it all up with old fat and make a bird cake.0

If only my mind really was great
I was thinking we also have some oaty snack bars in the Old Style Recipe Collection and there are also two different recipes for all bran fruit cakes which, I know you're tired of, but different recipes might help to ring the changes between the various other suggestions hereHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Last night Gordon Ramsay used bran flakes as a base for a cheesecake - I think he just stired them into melted butter, turned the goo onto baking paper, added another layer of baking paper on top and rolled it out to a thin layer.
This is my first post on Old Style. Hello all.

Why not save them to add to other crunchie bits- biscuit crumbs, muesli etc and make meringue crunchies (also good for using up egg whites) from the Goode Kitchen book by Shirley Goode. This recipe also uses up the heat from the oven's evening meal overnight so very Ol style!
Meringue Crunchies
(makes 30 - 36)
2 egg whites
5oz/150g caster sugar
6oz/175g crunch (cereal, broken biscuit, muesli, nuts whatever you have)
Beat the egg whites with the sugar for 3 mins with an electric whisk until really thick. (It will take longer if done by hand) Fold in the crunchy bits. Line 3 baking sheets with foil and dot with teaspoons of the mixture, leaving room for them to spread. Place the baking sheets in the oven before you turn it out. Shut the door and turn off the heat and leave the cookies for at least 8 hours (overnight is perfect) Don't open the door until morning! Result very yummy cookies!
Hello Sparkly! Lovely to have a new Ol styler! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I was going to suggest mixing them with breadcrumbs to add to your treacle tart but I think the meringues sound better, I might have to go and do some now:snow_laug HM Christmas 2010

Add to any mincemeat recipe, like sheapherds pie, or meatballs.0

Try putting them on top of a pasta bake done in the oven to give a nice crunchy toppingI haven't got one!0
