Bran flake ideas

  • I'd imagine it'd work fine in something like All-Bran cake, I often make this and it's really good, it gets better if you keep it a few days.
  • I have a recipe for a malt loaf type cake which is as follows:-
Soak one mugfull each of all bran, sultanas and demarara sugar in one mugfull of milk overnight. The next morning, stir in a mugfull of self raising flour, pour into a loaf tin and bake, around gas mark 4 for 45 mins to 1 hour. This uses the all bran that looks like sticks, but I suppose it will work with flakes too.

I've never heard of it but I'm much too idle to do a search on the forum for it. There is a Weetabix brownie recipe and I can't think of a good reason why it wouldn't work with the equivalent weight of Bran Flakes and it's so easy a five year-old could make it.

    4 Weetabix (about 3 ounces)
    4 oz sugar
    4 oz SR flour
    2 tbsp cocoa powder
    100 gr chopped chocolate
    1 egg
    4 ox melted marge

    Mix the dry ingredients
Add melted marge and beaten egg
Put into baking tray in oven at 180 Centigrade/360 Fahrenheit for 15 minutes
Remove from oven and rest for 5 minutes.
Turn out and cut into squares.

    These are really, REALLY nice

Hi all, in my quest to be healthy I gave a go of trying to switch my morning cereal to Bran. After the first spoonful I decided I'd rather eat rotten eggs and couldn't stomach anymore. However, I'm left with a boxful of Bran I don't know what to do with!! So I thought (trying to be all MSE and not waste food) I'd ask all my MSE friends if they have any Bran Cereal recipies I can try out to use up this boxful of cardboard sticks i'm left with and transform them into something wonderfully tasty (such as pizza or the like :rotfl:).
Savoury or sweet... Any ideas peeps?!
