Xbox or PS3?

What each of them is capable of is largely irrelevant at this point. The Xbox is clearly the gaming rig at the moment simply due to the game volume. The PS3 is increasinly becoming a media machine that plays games, with the release of PS home and PlayTV it will become a PVR.0

Yet for many months of last year, the PS2 outsold the PS3.
Meaningless..
Betamax was technologically superior to VHS.
HD-DVD was technologically superior to Blu-Ray.
That which has the best games wins.0 -

You want to hook up a Xbox 360 to a PC running Vista Home Premium or Ultimate that has a twin tuner freeview card in it and all your movies/MP3's on it. If you think the PS3 is good, the above combo will blow your mind. You get the full Windows Media Center experience. Even better when using the 360 DVD Remote.
And no, I'm not a 360 fanboi - I have all 3 consoles.0 -

Just interested Conor ~ in what was was HD-DVD superior? As I understand it, the bluray 'discs' are capable of so much more than their hd equivalents (As in 'layers'). I think Hitachi (Could be wrong on the manufacturer there) have found a way of squeezing 200 Gig out of a single disc, and believe that THATS not even the limits yet!
Also, I wouldnt just dicount the PS3. The ONLY reason HD-DVD died a death is BECAUSE of the PS3s inbuilt bluray!:idea:0 -

or maybe no-one was buying hd dvd players and the major movie studios prefered blu ray? consoles have little to do with the hd dvd versus blu ray issue. xbox 360 has outsold ps3 and it supported hd dvd but it still failed.0 -

Well your part right. No one was buying hd players NOR blu ray players (dedicated). But they WERE buying PS3s which is why HD died. At the time it was a 50/50 split between different corporations as to which they supported, so that wasnt really a factor.
Still, im all ears if you know more to this?:idea:0 -
erm, i guess i sort of agree. it has occurred to me that with xbox 360 people had to buy an add on to get hd dvd and with ps3 people dont. i think what made me think you maybe wrong was your sales point because ps3 hasnt really done that well sales wise has it, especially compared to xbox 360.0
