BTW I was having bad tearing problems whilst watching a DVD through my PC and using DVi. Just popped over to the avforum and noticed a lot of people are. however one chap changed his setting to 1280 x 768 60 hertz and on the TV menu dvi settings change to PC and not Auto and I can confirm I do not have tearing anymore.
With regards to the hiss, its not that much of a problem until I actually get confirmation that it is a fault and can be fixed then I will look into it.0 -

Working now. Mine still showing as 05/12, which is interesting as it's still at pre-production.What goes around - comes around0 -
fixed the tearing also, changed to 1280x720 60hertz, 'PC' on the dvi menu and the changed the aspect ratio on the screen to full screen and tearing has now gone0

dell are closed for customer services and tech support till monday
dont know how a large company like dell can run without tech support on a weekend but that just seems the way it is
with regards to the hissing
steve on the dell forum says his is silent with no noise so this is obviously a fault
im gonna try to get in touch with them in the morning and see what they say
meanwhile anyone with a his keep me informed and also not down the revision number
cheersA penny saved is something else for the wife to spend !!!0 -
Hi
Last night turned on my LCD, heard the noise Flimber was on about (Squeezing air out of a bottle sound). Decided I'm not going to take any chances and get ir replaced.
Also, I ws trying to clean a mark off the screen (But failed, it just spread the mark rather than remove it but oh well) and noticed the bottom part of the LCD seemed very loose! Could somebody who is brave enough push gently on the bit of plastic where the "Dell" logo is on the front and see if it goes 'into' the screen (You'll know what I mean when you try it).
Also, can UK/Ireland support arrange a exchange as I've had to put up with the terrible Indian support before and don't want to go through all that again! Preferrably a swap out, i.e. I give the courier my faulty LCD and they swap it with a BRAND NEW (I don't want a repair or refurb as I paid for new goods) LCD of the same model...

apparently if you notify within the first 21 days you should get a replacement that is new
after the 21 days you will get a refurb unit
there is nothing on the website about this it just says a new or reconditioned unitA penny saved is something else for the wife to spend !!!0 -

Yeah I did with my TFT monitors issue a few months ago with Dell, I'm only going to settle for a brand new replacement or a refund (Hopefully the replacement)0 -
The hissing, I just smacked lightly the side of the TV by the buttons and the hissing completely went, stupidly I tapped it again near the top and it came back louder, tapped it again and it went lower so it must be a loose connection0
